PUMPKIN PATCH UPDATE!
We have a schedule change for the Pumpkin Patch Field Trip. This revised plan will allow us to attend the event with fewer additional schools present. We will still be going this Wednesday, October 14th. The changes will only affect drivers on the field trip.
Our updated timetable is:
up car seats
Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Thank you for participating in our Breast Cancer Awareness week in kindergarten. The children were very fashionable and enjoyed wearing pink accessories all week!
Kindergarten Curriculum
This week we continued to compare numbers from 1-10 while using a 10 frame. We learned the correct way to read and fill-in a ten frame and then began exploring numbers by adding and taking away by one and two. We put to use the vocabulary greater and less as we explain our answers. All of this was reinforced in a fun way at Friday rotations where we played many math games like War, Bingo, Connect 4 and Fishing for Numbers! See pictures below.
Religion-
By studying Moses, the kindergarten children learned that God cares for us and has a plan for each life. He protected Baby Moses in the basket on the Nile River and later helped Moses lead the Israelites to the Promised Land. The children have been memorizing this Bible verse:
Have I not commanded you be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:9

Language Arts- We have finished with Doc, the SUPERKIDS character who loves to fix toys. A new SUPERKIDS friend will be introduced in class this week. The students are practicing simple blending of sounds and we continue to work on beginning, middle and ending sounds.
Please Note- The online SUPERKIDS program is available for students to use at home. You will be able to find SUPERKIDS characters through Doc on this application.
MILK AND JUICE -
If you are still interested in enrolling your child in this program, you may sign up at the front desk. Please bring a check in the amount of $50.00 payable to Mayfield Junior School and Beth Stavros, our front office Administrative Assistant, will process any orders submitted for your child.
