I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to each and every one of you for helping us make Literacy Night such a wonderful success! It was fantastic to see so many families come together to celebrate the wonders of reading.

I hope you and your children enjoyed exploring all of the exciting crafts and activities. Your enthusiasm and participation truly made this event a memorable one!

Looking ahead, our Spring Break is nearly here! It begins Friday, March 29th and classes return on Monday, April 8th. While we're excited for the break, we also want to stress how important it is for students to be in school and on time everyday. School attendance is the key to your child's academic success. We're grateful for families who make an effort to minimize absences during the break time. Unless your child is unwell, we kindly ask that they attend school when it's in session.

Congratulations to Ms. Hinojosa's class, for being the class with the most students with excellent attendance in the month of February! The students won a delicious pizza party, as well as the opportunity to keep our mascot, Maddie the Eagle, inside their classroom for the whole month!

How to Qualify for FREE Registration

• Child is residing in foster care
• Family is experiencing homelessness
• Child is receiving free/reduced price meals based on family income

Pasadena USD is offering additional health services from Hazel Health at no cost to families. With Hazel, students who are not feeling well will be able to speak with a Hazel doctor or schedule a therapy session virtually - right from home.

Mental health services are available at home and include:

• Scheduled short-term therapy visits: No waitlist for scheduled therapy sessions for coping with everything from anxiety, depression, and grief to peer and family relationships and bullying

• Care management to local resources: Referrals to local providers for continuity of care

To schedule a therapy visit, visit my.hazel.co/pusd and sign up. Once you’ve finished creating your account, call Hazel’s Customer Support Team at 1-253-215-8700 or 1-800-76-HAZEL to request an appointment.

Physical health services are available at home and include:

• Medical treatment: For stomach aches, headaches, sprained ankles, asthma concerns, and everything in between

• Medication: Prescriptions written when needed

The Pasadena Unified School District (PUSD) is currently discussing modernizing/renovating Madison Elementary School during the 2025-2026 school year (not this school year 2023-2024, not next school year 2024-2025, but the school year after 2025-2026).

According to current district discussions, for student and staff safety during the modernization/renovation period, our school would have to be relocated to another school site in Pasadena. Meaning, that all students, teachers, and staff would move for one school year while Madison Elementary School is renovated/modernized and then return to Madison once the work is completed in the summer of 2026.

In the meantime, rest assured that this will be a very long process. As we get more information, we will make sure to relay it to you. Also, the district is currently inviting staff, parents, and community members to tour the potential new school site with school administration. Each month we recognize teachers and staff members with a "SHOUT-OUT" cerfiticate during our staff meetings. Is there a teacher or staff member you would like to recognize or praise? Please use this form to "SHOUT-OUT" the good things you see (or hear from your students) happening at Madison Elementary School.

Our school staff will be doing random classroom check-ins throughout the week. The classroom with the MOST STUDENTS WEARING UNIFORMS WILL RECEIVE AN ICE POP during their lunch recess on Friday. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CHILDREN ARE WEARING THEIR UNIFORMS DAILY.

If your child needs a uniform please let Ms. Maria Pérez (perez.maria@pusd.us) know. If your child has already received uniforms, PLEASE MAKE SURE THEY WEAR THEM DAILY.
