Here is a little bit about our new staff members.
Chris Coursey
I was born in Spearman, TX. My father was a high school tennis coach and my mom was a 1st grade teacher (both eventually retired from Lubbock ISD). I graduated from Monahans High School and Texas Tech University. This will be my 31st year in education. My first job out of college was actually as an Exercise Specialist here in Lubbock and my first teaching/coaching job was in the Ralls ISD. I also spent 5 years with Idalou ISD as a science teacher and coach. In 2000, my family moved to Mansfield, where I spent 24 years years serving the district as a science teacher and girls golf coach. Both my children were born in Lubbock and graduated from Mansfield High School. My daughter Tucker lives and works in Dallas and is employed in the staffing industry. My son Peyton, lives in Arlington and works for the Winchester Safe Company. This year, I will be teaching Forensic Science and coaching the boys golf team at Cooper High School. I am excited to be back in Lubbock and I am looking forward to being part of the LCP Family.
Taylor McMackin
This will be Taylor McMackin's first year as a teacher. He will be teaching Speech and coaching Baseball at Lubbock - Cooper High School. Prior to joining LCISD, McMackin has spent the last two years as the Director of Player Development for PTG. Sports. McMackin spent his time from 2020-2022 coaching at the collegiate level with stops at the University of Charleston and Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi. Since 2022 McMackin, has been the Director of Player Development at PTG Sports in Lubbock, Texas where he currently resides. McMackin has aided in the recruitment and placement of over 50 high school athletes in his time since graduating from college in 2020. In 2021, McMackin joined the staff at the University of Charleston where he served as the Recruiting Coordinator and Pitching coach. Charleston would finish with a 40-18 record winning the MEC Championship and finishing their season in the NCAA Regional final game. In the summer of 2021, McMackin served as the Head Coach for the Oso Bay Buccaneers in the Texas Coastal Collegiate League where his pitching staff threw two no-hitters while finishing the summer leading the league in ERA, WHIP, K’s, and BAA. In 2020-2021, McMackin served as an assistant coach at Texas A&M - Corpus Christi, assisting with the Pitchers. A 2015 graduate of Lubbock-Cooper High School, McMackin went on to continue his education and play baseball at Texas A&M – Texarkana before transferring to Hardin Simmons University (TX) where he led the Cowboys on the mound in appearances in all three seasons while earning All-Conference Academic honors in all three seasons as well.
Michael Maldonado
I am from the small town of Petersburg, TX which is 30 minutes NE of Lubbock. I graduated from Texas Tech University. I have been teaching/coaching for 11 years now. I am coming from Post ISD, where I have been for the past 6 years. I currently live in Slaton with my wife and daughter. My wife's name is Maegan and she is a Physical Therapist Assistant at UMC. Our daughter's name is Michaela and she is 6 years old. I will be teaching Financial Math and coaching boys athletics.
Melissa Baker
Hello, I am Mrs. Melissa Walden-Baker (but go by Mrs. Baker) This will be my 18th year of teaching. I possess a Masters in Gifted Education & Administration. Previously I taught Elementary Gifted, Middle School Gifted, English 1, & 7th Grade Math. This will be my 3rd year with Lubbock Cooper, and I previously lived in Northern New Mexico. I am so excited to be teaching English 1! My family and I love to travel back to southern Colorado, for hiking, biking, & skiing, and won't ever turn down a great concert! My oldest son Kyle is in his final year at TTU, daughter Hailey will be a Freshman at LCHS, & son Kaid will be in Kindergarten at South. Mr. Baker covers Natural Gas Sales across North America for his company.
Irene Leija
I am a mother of 3 biological children and 3 nephews/1 niece that I have raised. I now have 16 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. My pride and joy is spending time with my family. I have been a SpEd para for 8 years. I started in PPCD, Lifeskills, Resource/Inclusion, and SLC. I was an adjunct teacher for PK3 last year. I am working on my teacher certification. I love working with children. This is my dream job. I will be working at Lubbock-Cooper High School as a LifeSkills TA.
Miranda Greve
I'm Miranda Greve. This will be my first time working for a school district. I worked in hotel and customer service for almost 10 years. I will be an attendance clerk at LCHS. My husband, Jeremy and I have been married for 11 years and have 4 kids and 3 grandkids. He is an LCP Police officer and works at North elementary. Our youngest daughter will be a 5th grader at South elementary. I am really looking forward to start this new adventure as a Lubbock-Cooper Pirate.
Nikki Curry
I am Nikki Curry, and I am so incredibly thrilled and blessed to be a part of Lubbock-Cooper High School. I have been married to my husband, Sean, for almost 24 years, and we have two daughters, Holly, age 21, and Hannah, age 18. They are both Lubbock-Cooper High School graduates. I have been in education for a total of 19 years. Three years were in the private school setting and 16 in public schools. I worked at Roosevelt High School for five years before coming to LCP. I just finished my 11th year at Lubbock-Cooper Middle School. This year, I will be teaching 12th grade RLA Resource and helping with transition. I am excited for this new chapter in my life!!
Lindsay Brannan
I am new to the teaching world. I will be teaching health science. I have been in the medical field all of my adult life working in ophthalmology, retina, urgent care, and family medicine. I have one son who is a marine, a daughter in law that teaches primary education, and two granddaughters that all reside in Maine. I live on a ranch outside of Post, TX. We love to travel to our house in Granbury on the weekends or anywhere that has a lake or a beach. Animals are a passion of mine, any and all! I look forward to this new adventure.
Mollie Villanueva
Hi I'm Mollie. I came to LCHS last year second semester as a math teacher, but will move into a counselor position this year. I have been a high school math teacher for the past 15 years. I graduated with my bachelors from West Texas A&M and my masters from University of Texas at Tyler. I have been married for 15 years to my husband and we have 3 kids - a 12 year old son and two daughters, 7 and 6 years old.
Kami Carnell
My name is Kami Carnell. I am a daughter to Jeff and Kerry Carnell, a sister and sister-in -law to Kira and Ryan Darby and Kenzi and Tyler Lloyd, an Aunt to 5 nephews and 1 niece. I am a born again christian and attend and serve at First Baptist Church Lubbock. I love to travel and have a bucket list to visit every state in the US. I graduated from Frenship High School and received my Bachelors degree from Texas Tech University. I taught Algebra 1 and coached softball for 12 years all at Plainview High School. I will be teaching Algebra 1 and assisting in softball and cross country at Lubbock Cooper High School. Im excited about this new adventure here at Lubbock Cooper.
Brittany Borders
Hello! My name is Brittany Borders and I will be teaching Geometry as well as helping with inclusion in other math classes. I was born and raised in South Texas and moved to Lubbock in 2016 to go to Tech. I graduated from Tech in May 2020 and started my teaching journey. This will be my 5th year of teaching, but first year in high school. I have spent the past 4 years teaching middle school math- both 6th grade and 7th grade.
I am the oldest of 8 children- 5 half siblings and 2 step siblings. I currently am the caretaker for my grandmother and I have 3 unbelievably spoiled fur babies at home. I am very excited to begin my next adventure as an LCP Pirate and I can't wait to meet all of you in person!
Darla Loyless
My name is Darla Loyless, and I am thrilled to be teaching Medical Terminology and Health Science Theory at LCHS this year. I have twelve years of teaching experience in biology, anatomy and physiology, and medical microbiology, ten of which were in Andrews, TX. Before transitioning to teaching, I worked as a clinical laboratory scientist. It truly feels like I’ve come full circle in my professional career by joining the health science program at LCHS, and I could not be more excited!
My husband, John, and I have been married for 28 years, and we are proud parents to three adult sons: Jonathon, who recently earned a master's degree from UTMB and resides in Texas City; Ben, a recent LCU graduate who lives in Lubbock; and Caleb, a TTU graduate who is pursuing his master's degree in biblical studies at seminary in Kansas City, MO.
I am so fortunate to be part of Lubbock-Cooper ISD and the LCP family and am looking forward to an amazing year ahead!
Brenda Ortiz
My name is Brenda Ortiz. I am married to Eddie Ortiz and we have two beautiful children. William is 3 and Penelope is 7. This will be my 8th year teaching. I taught one year at Estacado high school as a teacher and coach. Then, I worked 6 years at Lubbock-Cooper HS as a Biology teacher. I took two years off to be a stay at home mom, but now I’m back! I will be teaching Biology/Environmental systems at Lubbock Cooper High school. I’m looking forward to a great year!
Kyleigh Hutchins (soon to be Jones)
I am Kyleigh-soon-to-be-Jones and I will be teaching Algebra and Algebra DB. This will be my very first year of teaching! I'm from Hobbs, NM, and I just graduated from Texas Tech this past May. I student-taught for a full year at Lubbock High School. I will be getting married THIS MONTH to my favorite person.
Danny Douglas
Hello, my name is Danny Douglas and I will be joining Lubbock-Cooper High School this Fall. I will be teaching Integrated Physics and Chemistry.

5) Married to the wonderful Kym Douglas, Graphics Design Teacher at Lubbock-Cooper High School
6) Father of Blayze Douglas, who is a current student/athlete at Lubbock-Cooper High School

Kimberly Vann
I am a graduate of Lubbock Cooper High School and Texas Tech University. My husband and I have 3 children, 1 granddaughter, and a grandson on the way. Education has been a part of my professional career for 25+ years. I started teaching in LISD, became the Program Director at a local non-profit where I taught students and parents, was the Nutrition Director for a Chiropractor, and now I am getting back into the classroom. I am excited to start working in the CTE department at High School teaching Food Science and Adulting.
Dr. Mike Moffitt
Dr. Mike Moffitt’s experience includes seven years as a school administrator. He holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership and a pair of Masters Degrees in Sports Management and Education Administration. He will be working in a support role in the ELAR department. He has over 20 years of coaching experience at a variety of levels, including NCAA D-I. He invests in the future of his sport by promoting the growth of beach volleyball and boys volleyball, coaching club, and by presenting at various camps and coaching clinics. He led his 18U boys club team to a 3rd place finish at USAV Nationals in 2024.
In his role on the Board for USA Volleyball’s Sun Country Region, he is a leader in coaches education and player advocacy, as well as spearheading investigations and rulings on ethics issues throughout West Texas, the Panhandle, and all of New Mexico. He is an adjunct professor for West Texas A&M’s Education Department, in the role of field supervisor for principal practicum. Coach Moffitt arrives at LCP having gone undefeated in District 3-5A the last four seasons.
Mike’s lovely wife Erin was a high school All-American swimmer and went on to swim at the University of Houston. Their oldest daughter, Jo is a Sophomore at Lamar University, and is the setter for their volleyball team. Joining Coach Moffitt at Lubbock-Cooper are their Senior twins, Jackson and Bird. In addition to being excellent volleyball players, Jackson loves to work with students receiving special education services, and Bird is actively preparing for a career in journalism.
Sawyer Howell
Thirty-four year old, Sawyer Howell, brings 13 years of HS ELA experience with him. His first 2 years were at South Plains Academy (SPA), which is now known as Triumph Academy, and the last 11 years were at Levelland ISD teaching Jr./Sr. ELA.
Sawyer attended grades K-10 at Shallowater ISD and his Jr. and Sr. years at Happy ISD, graduating in 2008. In December 2011, Sawyer received his BA in English from WTAMU.
He comes from a background of secondary level educators, with his parents now retired from education and 2 of his 3 siblings currently working in education. Sawyer will be at Lubbock-Cooper High School teaching Jr./Sr. ELA.
Darlene Sims
I am Darlene Sims. My husband and I have been married for 27 years and we have 6 children and 19 grandchildren. We also have several additional kids that we claim as our own kids and grandkids. I started working for the school system last year. I will be working with Life Skills this year.
Lenzi Fuller
Hello! My name is Lenzi Fuller. I taught RLA for twelve years and this will be my first year as a diagnostician at LCHS. My two cats, Florence and Eleanor, always keep me entertained. I am also a dog mom to an Akita named Ozzi. He definitely keeps me on my toes! I love working out at the gym, traveling, spending time with my family, and diving into a great book! Go Pirates!
Rachel Paige
Hello my name is Rachel. I'm a nice tall woman who enjoys a lot of things like making & selling my yummy treats on weekends & spending time with my granddaughter. I'm a mother of three - 2 sons & 1 daughter. I have been a Teacher Assistant for 6 years - 5 with LISD & 1 year with Lubbock Cooper ISD in the SPED DEPT. I'm excited to be working with you & staff this year.
Spencer Henderson
I am Spencer Henderson. I am from Lubbock, Texas and Graduated from Monterey High School. I have been married to my amazing wife Brooklyn for 3 years and we have two amazing children, Beckett and Suttyn. I have been teaching for 5 years now, and am coming to Lubbock-Cooper from Monterey. I will be teaching World History and coaching Football and Baseball this coming school year. My family and I are super excited to join the LCP family!! Go Pirates!!

I have an amazing husband, three grown children and four beautiful grandchildren who bring more blessings and joy to my life than I would ever have imagined. I also enjoy photography and documenting their years as they flourish in their lives.
I am entering my 26th year of teaching which never gets boring! After teaching 7-12th grade ELA and several CTE courses, I am looking forward to returning to Sophomore English with my students and the incredible LCHS faculty and staff.

Natalie Sims
I have been teaching math for 21 years, and the last 11 years have been with Plainview High School. I have been married to Jeremy Sims for almost 26 years. We have 3 wonderful children. Ashleigh is a licensed counselor in Lubbock and married to Payton. They have 3 beautiful children. Mitchell is a senior genetics major at A&M, and our youngest just graduated as valedictorian of her senior class and will be attending Texas Tech University this fall majoring in accounting. I absolutely love to snow ski and travel. I am looking forward to living in Lubbock, and teaching at Lubbock Cooper High School.
Brig Gerlich
My name is Brig Gerlich and I will be starting my 9th year in education. I will be a BEST teacher at Lubbock Cooper High School and also coaching girls basketball and track. I am originally from Seguin, Tx, (30 Miles East of San Antonio). I have been married to my wife Nicole for 6 years and we are expecting our first child in December. We met at Lubbock Christian where we both enjoyed our time and athletic careers. We are happy to moving back to the Lubbock area and be apart of the Cooper Family.
Chris Flickinger
Affectionately called "Coach Flick," my family has enjoyed living in Lubbock for the past three years, where I taught and coached at Coronado. This is my 10th year in education and I was a full time pastor for 21 years in Little Rock, Oklahoma City, and Hereford. I'm excited to teach geometry and coach girls basketball and volleyball at Cooper High School this year. I have been married for 25 years to Brooke, and we have three children--Kidron (senior at Tech), Naya (sophomore here at Cooper High School), and Dax (7th grade).
Caitlin Ramos
Hello. My name is Caitlin Ramos. I am from the San Antonio area. I just finished my Masters Degree at TTUHSC. This will be my first year being an Athletic Trainer here at Lubbock-Cooper High School and I am so excited to get the year started!
Desiree Hennessy
Hello everyone! My name is Desiree Hennessy. I have a Bachelors in Child and Family Studies, as well as a Masters in Psychology. I have been teaching for 12 years in elementary education spread out between Midland, Odessa, and Lubbock. This will be my first year teaching Intro to Culinary Arts and I could not be more excited! I have one daughter, Allison, who is a Junior over at Liberty and she is my pride and joy! I also have two pups - a chiweenie, Piglet, and a frenchie, Winnie Poo.
Davis Inglish
My name is Davis Inglish, and I am from Katy, Tx but have been living in Lubbock for 13 years now. I have been married to my beautiful wife Amelia for almost 4 years now. In April of 2023 we had our first child, Bregman who is full of energy and laughter. This is my 10th year in education (all in SPED) and I will be teaching Special Education doing inclusion at Lubbock Cooper High School.
