Our winter break ended on Friday, January 3rd, so classes resume on Monday, January 6th.

Depending on the instructional plan for Monday, we will either see students in person at SMS or via Google meet. If Monday ends up being an eLearning day, I will send the Google meet schedule and join codes to parents via ParentSquare and to students via Canvas.

Halfway Day for our sixth grade students is Tuesday, January 7th.

The Ignite and Tribe teachers have some fun activities planned for the students to celebrate the midpoint of their K-12 educational careers.

Report cards from the third six weeks will be published in Harmony Family Access on Wednesday, January 15th. The grades on that report card determine students' eligibility for extracurricular activities.

The grades from our third six weeks will be averaged with course grades from the fourth six weeks to calculate trimester grades at the end of February.

The grade point average of the trimester grades is what we use to determine medal awards at the end of each school year.

The Mobile Dentist will be at SMS on Tuesday, January 14th.

SMS yearbooks are now on sale.

The cost is $17.

Yearbooks can be ordered via the QR code in the picture or via a paper order form that is available in the SMS office.

The deadline to order is Friday, March 21st.

The SOS Club, formerly known as Sources of Strength, is a club that seeks to leverage the influence of peer relationships to foster a healthier and more supportive school environment. By empowering students to become agents of change, the program aims to dismantle harmful norms and create a culture where help-seeking is encouraged and connections between peers and caring adults are strengthened. Ultimately, the SOS Club strives to prevent suicide, bullying, and substance abuse by cultivating a supportive and inclusive school community. Any SMS student who is interested in joining our club, please see Mrs. Smith for more information.

Winter sports are basketball, cheer, swimming, and wrestling.

Students should listen to the afternoon announcements for updates about practices and competitions.

Eventlink is the platform that we use to communicate with parents/family members regarding practices and events.

Harmony made some updates over the summer, including a new link for Harmony Family Access. When you need to visit Harmony Family Access to update information, check grades, add money to a cafeteria account, etc., please use this link. It is also located on the Scott 2 website under "Students & Parents" if you prefer to access it from there.

The Scottsburg MS student handbook contains some updates for the 2024-2025 school year. Once again, the most significant changes took place in the attendance section.

We encourage you to read the handbook with your child(ren) and to contact us with any questions you may have.
