USING STUDENTS TO HELP IMPLEMENT PORTRAIT OF A LEARNERπ
As we delve deeper into what the Portrait of a Learner means for WPUSD and how to implement it, we are turning to our greatest assetβour studentsβfor guidance! Through Student Senate and our Portrait of a Learner Guiding Coalition, students are providing valuable insight, ideas and implementation strategies to help us make meaningful progress. Their contributions are shaping how we ensure every student embodies the Portrait of a Learner traits when they graduate from WPUSD schools.
Is your child in Student Senate or the Guiding Coalition? See what they've been up to and ask about some of their ideas!
SAFE AND RESPONSIBLE SOCIAL MEDIA USE π€³
Social media can connect friends and family but poses risks, especially for children and adolescents. While some benefits exist (e.g., access to information, friends, an outlet for self-expression), available research suggests that the risks are more significant. Such risks may include but are not limited to: impaired sleep, cyberbullying, increased risk of anxiety and depression, body image issues, and exposure to extreme, harmful, and/or inappropriate content.
