Principal's Message
Hello Thurston Families,
I hope you and your family are doing well and are enjoying the beautiful fall weather. It is hard to believe that it is already the end of October. We have had a pretty smooth start to the school year and have a good daily routine going throughout the building. Things will probably go by even faster between now and winter break. November is one of those months that has several no school days due to Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, grading day and conferences. Starting November 1st, you will be able to go into Synergy ParentVue and schedule your teacher conference. Kathy will be sending out more information when scheduling goes live. We are looking forward to seeing all of you. 🙂
We appreciate our students’ responsibility regarding their computer devices. Each day they are to have a charged device, care for it properly, and use it responsibly, both in school and at home. This vital resource helps us develop 21st Century skills in our students!
Warm Regards,
Amber Mitchell, Principal

Call the office?
Please call the office by 9:30 a.m. to let us know when and why your child will be absent. Also, we try to have consistent after-school plans for each student. If your child's after-school arrangement is different than usual (i.e. being picked up at school rather than riding the bus), please let us know by 2 p.m., so that we can get a message to your child in a timely manner. The office phone number is 541-744-6411.
Picture Retake Day
Picture retakes are scheduled for the morning of November 13. If your child had photos taken and you would like a retake, please send him/her back with the packet they received. If your child was absent, you can order through the flyer or online.
Month of Giving Change Drive
Each November we hold our Change Drive; our hope is that this teaches our students that we can look beyond our own comfort to those who have a deeper need. The holidays and spirit of giving during that season are the perfect time to teach and reinforce generosity toward others. Your child's classroom will have a collection bin, and we'll keep students posted on how much we are collecting each week.
