Argyle ISD School Board Briefs

Dear Argyle ISD Staff & Community,
Tuesday night, Argyle ISD held its monthly regular board meeting. The AISD School Board met at 5:00 p.m. for an executive session prior to the open meeting. We are providing you with School Board Briefs and hope this valuable information on agenda and action items helps you to be a well-informed Argyle ISD community member.
Our Board of Trustees conducted the open portion of the regularly scheduled monthly board meeting at 6 p.m. President Sam Slaton established a quorum and our Pledges to the Flags were led by students from the Sixth Grade Center. Trustee Craig Hawkesworth conducted the Opening Prayer.
Last night’s board meeting was filled with very deserving recognitions. First, we recognized our Argyle ISD School Board of Trustees, as January is School Board Appreciation Month in the State of Texas. This year’s theme, Leadership for Tomorrow’s Texas, underscores the profound influence of our 7 elected Trustees—not only on the future of Argyle ISD but also on the broader future of Texas.
The next group recognition belonged to the Argyle Eagles’ football team which finished 2024 as the Class 5A-Division II State Semifinalists. The Argyle Eagles, led by Coach Todd Rodgers and staff, were undefeated District Champions for the second year in a row, compiling a 14-1 record, and advanced to the state semifinals for the second time in three years.
Our final recognition of the evening highlighted the incredible teachers serving on the Superintendent Teacher Advisory Council. These 14 dedicated educators, representing all 7 AISD campuses, play a vital role by providing valuable feedback and input on campus and district initiatives, events, and processes. They have been an integral part of our leadership team throughout the year.
During the Public Comment portion of the meeting, there were 5 speakers. The district provides transcripts of all prior board meeting public comments and district responses on the website. The district aims to provide transcribed public comments and responses as soon as possible after each board meeting.
During the Consent portion of the Board Agenda, the Board unanimously approved a series of items related to different departmental areas except item 8D. This was due to additional information received requiring an adjustment to the staff list. This item will be moved to the February board meeting. A full list of consent items can be viewed in the released agenda.
During the Reports portion of the Board Agenda, the Board received several updates, including:
Superintendent's Report
During the Information portion of the Board Agenda, the Board reviewed the following:
Superintendent Teacher Advisory Council Feedback Discussion regarding utilizing additional revenue based on higher than projected ADA (Average Daily Attendance) from increased student enrollment above the demographer’s projections to provide teachers support during the Spring 2025 semester
During the Discussion and Action portion of the Board Agenda, the Board considered action and approved the following:
Consider Approval of Resolution to Pay Employees for Inclement Weather Days
Approve Order to Call School District Trustee Election for May 3, 2025
As a reminder, the Board voted and approved Additionally, the Board voted and approved the Middle School and High School Zoning in December.
