Announcements
Pactful
Congratulations to Elizabeth, Malia, and Miranda for winning the 2023 Jacobs Teen Innovation Challenge. The Jacobs Teen Innovation Challenge, also known as the Pactful Project, is a worldwide event that supports educators and teenagers in developing social good solutions aligned to the UN Global Goals. Their team, MEA Mountaineers, created FIREfly Health as a tangible path to improved household air quality. They provide directions, in 4 different languages, to create a low cost stove, with the use of recycled materials, that vents smoke outside homes that otherwise utilize open fires to cook. MEA Mountaineers win provided a $1,000 donation to Doctors Without Boarders. To see their full presentation can be viewed on the Pactful Website.

Lighthouse Team Campus Beautification Unveiling
Over the past few months, our dedicated Lighthouse Team has worked diligently to transform the lunch court on campus into a visually captivating space. With the addition of succulent gardens, creating vibrant flower beds, and additional seating and outdoor games, the campus now boasts an enchanting atmosphere that we are excited to share with all of you. The unveiling ceremony promises to be a memorable event, we hope to see you there.

Spotlights
During the annual MEA Family BBQ, the Literary Club unveiled a new Lending Library. The library, designed and crafted by Jody Huege and Mr. Goldwater, was dedicated to Dr. Rodenberg for her 13 years of dedicated service to Mt. Everest Academy. The library will be installed outside near the corner of Mt. Ararat and Mt. Etna, for the entire community to enjoy.
From May 26-28, Addison Hou competed in the 27th Annual Speedo Grand Challenge. He placed 1st in the 50 meter backstroke, 50 meter breaststroke, 50 meter butterfly, 50 meter freestyle, and the 200 meter individual medley. He also placed 2nd in the 100 meter backstroke, and 3rd in the 100 meter breaststroke. At this swim meet, he broke two team records, the 50 freestyle, with a time of 26.73, and the 200 individual medley, with a time of 2:25.20. Addison has been a very competitive swimmer since the age of 10 and has won many other events at different swim meets. His passion for swimming will continue to grow for sure.
