School Newsletter Term 3, Week 6
Friday 30th August 2024
Kia ora,
We’re thrilled to share that Mid Central Health's dentist trailer will be on-site at our school for the next few weeks. This is a fantastic opportunity for our tamariki to receive important dental care without having to leave the school grounds. We encourage all parents and caregivers to take advantage of this service, ensuring our students maintain their bright, healthy smiles.
A massive thank you goes out to everyone who contributed to the TWNOT Gala Day. It was an extremely successful event, with funds raised going directly towards our upcoming senior camp. The spirit of our community truly shone through, with so many people volunteering their resources, and energy to make the day a success. The funds raised will ensure that all students have the opportunity to participate in this important camp experience, which is always a highlight of the year.
Despite the recent wet weather, training for the RICOH sports tournament will continue. Although the tournament has been postponed, our teams remain committed to their practice sessions, and we’re grateful to the parents and coaches who have adjusted their schedules to keep the momentum going. Your dedication is greatly appreciated, and we’re confident our teams will be well-prepared when the tournament is rescheduled.
Finally, our teachers are currently focused on continuing to develop our consistent approach to numeracy and literacy across all year levels as we build up to the rollout of new additions to the New Zealand Curriculum. This preparation is crucial to ensuring that our students are equipped with the skills and knowledge they need to thrive. We’re excited about these upcoming changes and are committed to providing a smooth transition for our students.
As always, thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. Together, we make our school a wonderful place for our children to learn and grow.
Nga mihi,

Bringing a spare change of clothing
We are having a lot of children coming to the office after getting wet or muddy and have no change of clothes to get into. This also includes children who are having toileting accidents. Please remember to pack a spare pair of clothes (including underwear) so you don't get a phone call and have to come into school to give your child clean, dry clothes.
School Photos next week
PhotoLife forms were sent home with children last week.
If parents would like a SIBLING photo please fill out the photo request form and return it to the office by Friday 30th August 2024. Without the filled out and returned SIBLING photo request form, SIBLING photos will not be taken.
All students present on the day will have individual and classroom photos taken.

Tipuranga
Room 13
In Room 13 we have been using Mana Aotūroa to create these bright pieces of artwork. We have been talking about how our names are special to us and listing lots of things we are good at doing! We discovered we are all great at different things and that makes us special.
Puāwaitanga
Room 11
What a great start to the term in Room 11! We have been learning about ourselves and our culture as part of ‘Navigating the Journey’. We had to create a small art piece to show something that we care about and we have turned it into a quilt so that we can keep being reminded of the special things in our lives.
Te Wao Nui o Tāne
Our Senior students have been enthusiastically engaged in the EPro8 Challenge this week! EPro8 is an exciting science and engineering program featuring a variety of hands-on activities designed to spark creativity and foster skills in science, engineering, and problem-solving. Throughout the challenge, our students have embodied our school values of Manaakitanga (caring and respect), Kotahitanga (unity and togetherness), Mana Aotūroa (inquiry and learning), and Whakamana (empowerment and strength). It's been wonderful to see them dive into these challenges with such enthusiasm, teamwork, and commitment to our shared values!
