Class Highlight - Fourth and Fifth Grade, Mr. Hirsch
The fourth and fifth graders have completed their identity books. The books highlight important people, places, experiences and ideas in the students' lives.
This week, 4-Winds instructors led a lesson on rotting logs. We were able to dig into some logs in and out of the classroom to look closely at what was inside.
The Golden Dome books were released this week at the Cornwall School Library. Many students have set personal reading goals and are hoping to read at least five.
This week we have begun a research project on European explorers. Pairs of students are looking closely at their chosen explorer and will present their research to the class.
The clock model has been the tool this week to better understand fractions. Next week, we will use money as a model, allowing us to consider fractions with a different set of denominators.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
Conferences will be held through November 17, with many teachers scheduling on November 3, a day allocated for that purpose..
The goal of these conferences is to talk about how your student is doing in classes so far this school year and to talk about next steps in their learning. Please check in with the teacher or with me if you have any questions.
