LCS Continuity of Learning and COVID-19 Response

Dear Hyatt Families,


We are so grateful for the support of our Hyatt families in working together to guide our students on Google Classroom and online programs. We are very hopeful that these efforts will help students maintain their academic progress. Families that indicated they needed online devices were provided Chromebooks from our technology department. Those few families that have no access to the internet are being provided printed copies of the county grade level packet appropriate for their child. If you are in need of additional academic support, please feel free to contact your child's teacher or me at cthomas@lindenschools.org.

Food Service Information

Deb Brindle, our Food Service Director reached out to families by email recently. She shared that if you are experiencing a reduction in your income for any reason or due to the Covid-19 pandemic, you may still apply for free or reduced meals. If you qualify, it can help with acquiring food assistance through EBT cards from the state of Michigan.


To apply online for free and reduced lunch go to www.lindenschools.org, click on the tab "Our District", scroll to and click on "Food Service", scroll down the home page and click on the purple oval "Send Money to School.com" button, on the bottom right of the picture click on the link "LunchApp.com" and at the bottom of the picture click on the link "Start an Application, then follow the steps from there. We will send you a letter that will indicate whether you are eligible for free or reduced lunch. Again, if you have any questions, feel free to call us at 810-591-0435.

Virtual SOAR Recognition

Hyatt staff are monitoring student learning and recognizing some students that are SOARing during remote learning. Students recognized will receive a postcard in their mailbox! A special thank you to Calabria Village for supporting this student recognition opportunity. Stay Safe, Offer Kindness, Act Responsibly, and Remember Respect.

This week is staff appreciation week. Every year we take this time to recognize our staff. Teachers have gone above and beyond to provide virtual lessons and connect with our Hyatt families. Our staff has come together through these recent weeks to support our students and each other.

Reminders for Best Practices in Virtual Learning


  • Use district-issued lindenschoos.org email account when logging in.
  • Do not share a meeting invitation with anyone outside of your classroom.
  • Dress appropriately.
  • Students are still bound by the building-specific Student Handbook. v. 4/22/20
  • Review the LCS Student Acceptable Use Policy.
  • Keep your microphone muted unless talking, or called on by the teacher.
  • Join meetings 2-3 minutes before the meeting will start.
  • Be in a secure and quiet place.
  • Pay attention to your teacher and communicated expectations.
  • Do not take screenshots of meeting participants and share them on social media.
  • When joining a meeting, use your proper name.
