FAMOUS AUTHOR VISIT
On Friday, May 10, Field Middle School welcomed James Ponti, the esteemed New York Times bestselling author of four captivating middle-grade book series. The day was filled with excitement as students delved into his works: sixth graders immersed themselves in "City Spies," seventh graders embarked on the thrilling journey of "Framed," while eighth graders explored the captivating narrative of "Dead City."
Throughout the day, Mr. Ponti engaged and inspired students through a series of assemblies, where he shared anecdotes from his own middle school experiences and offered insights into his journey as a writer. His presence wasn't limited to the stage; during lunch breaks and classroom sessions, he generously interacted with budding student writers, sharing valuable advice and encouragement.
Beyond his acclaimed literary accomplishments, Mr. Ponti's career as an Emmy-nominated television writer and producer added another layer of intrigue. With a diverse portfolio spanning networks such as Nickelodeon, Disney Channel, PBS, History, Spike TV, and NBC Sports, his wealth of experience resonated with students aspiring to explore creative fields.
The highlight of the day was undoubtedly the opportunity for students to meet Mr. Ponti personally and have their books autographed, creating cherished memories that will undoubtedly inspire their own creative pursuits. Field Middle School was privileged to host such a distinguished guest.
