PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE - DECEMBER 9th
It was also a week full of music this week as we had not only the 5th Grade Band performance but also a visit from the Hersey High School Band, who wowed us with their festive tunes and amazing talent. Some of them had holiday lights on their instruments which was a hit with our students and one lucky Panther even got to conduct the band as they played. Music for Youth also had a concert this week, and our second graders are busy rehearsing for their performance next week! It is going to be a fabulous performance!
I hope you all have a lovely weekend!

RULER MOOD METER
A RULER tool we shared with parents at the November RULER Parent Night is the Mood Meter. The Mood Meter has four quadrants representing different types of feelings that fall into either red, blue, green, or yellow. The Mood Meter helps students understand that all emotions are okay. Using the Mood Meter helps students understand how emotions influence thinking and behavior and help us begin to develop strategies to manage them more skillfully. It also helps students develop a vocabulary to name emotions in themselves and others. To learn more about the Mood Meter please click this link. If you are interested in an activity you can do at home with your family to integrate the mood meter, please reach out to your teacher. The activities are grade-level specific.
TREMENDOUS TRAFFIC TEAM
As you are all aware, we had a bit of a snow flurry during drop off today and I just wanted to take a moment to thank our wonderful Traffic Team for all they do for our community. Even in snow flurries and freezing temperatures they keep their smiles! THANK YOU traffic team - we appreciate you - especially on days like today!
PATTON PAGES CELEBRATION
We had an assembly before Thanksgiving break where we recognized all the students who have signed the Patton Pages this year. Students can be nominated by any staff member for showing Patton's Big 3 in an exceptional way. All Patton Panthers are reminded daily to show the Big 3.
1. Be Safe
2. Be Kind
3. Be Ready (to listen and follow directions)
We were thrilled to recognize these students and we already have several who have signed the Patton Pages this trimester!
4th & 5th GRADE MATH CONTEST RESULTS
Our 4th and 5th graders wowed us with their math skills during the annual Math Contest this year! Huge congrats to the winners and an enormous thanks to Mrs Cioni and Mrs Anderle for organizing and running this contest for our students!
Traveling Over the Holidays?
If you plan on leaving for the holidays before school finishes on the 22nd of December, please notify your child's teacher and the front office staff. With lots of fun and crafts planned in the week leading up to winter break, it will help the teachers to know who will be gone so they can plan accordingly and ensure everyone gets to enjoy the fun.
ABC/25 FOUNDATION FUNDRAISER
Please don't forget that you can still join the ABC/25 foundation! If enough Patton families sign up, we will receive a $2,500 grant that can be used to purchase special items for the school. In previous years we have purchased things like sound systems for the commons and equipment for our sensory room.
For more information, please click here.
In the meantime, please enjoy this flyer and get a 20% discount from Nothing Bundt Cakes! This could come in very handy at this time of the year!
CROSSING GUARD POSITION
District 25 has posted a position for a crossing guard at the intersection of Harvard and Maude. If you know anyone who might be interested in this position, please direct them to visit the posting on our website to apply. The position is available immediately and it would be wonderful to have a crossing guard here daily to help our students safely cross the street. Please help us spread the word and/or consider applying for this position.
We thank you in advance for your partnership and support in keeping all Patton Panthers safe.
LOST AND FOUND
Our lost and found is getting pretty full again so we are planning to do another Goodwill donation over winter break. Please have your child come (or feel free to come in yourself at any time!) and take a look at what is here to ensure that your family's belongings are claimed before winter break when it gets donated.
We have had many people spot some of their items from these photos and come in and collect them. We are also having students come and take a peek on their way to/from their specials.
ARTSONIA
All your child's physical art will come home at the end of the year but, if you create an Artsonia portfolio, you can access and comment on your child's art during the year. You can even order merch with your child's art on it for gifts etc! Please see the attached flyer for more information or click here to go to the website.
2nd Grade Musical Performance - "Cold Snap!"
Thursday, December 15th - 7pm
Doors will open at 6:40pm and the curtain will rise promptly at 7:00pm for our 2nd Grade Musical performance and we could not be more excited. The 2nd grade classes have put a lot of work into this show and can't wait to perform for their families. Every grade level will have their chance to take the stage this year so everyone will get a chance to see their Panther perform. Space is limited so we ask that only 2nd grade families attend this show.
4th & 5th Grade - December Homework Club
Have your 4th or 5th grader stay after school on (most) Tuesdays in room 255!
Mr. Morkert will provide a quiet space where kids can work on assignments, read, or get extra help. If interested, you must sign up using this link (space is limited to 12). Please be sure to include your child's name when you sign them up and note whether you will pick up your child or if they can walk home. CAP kids welcome as well. Please contact Mr. Morkert for any questions (tmorkert@sd25.org).
Recognize a Staff Member - Give a Pat on the Back to a Patton Staff Member
Enormous thanks to all who have filled this out already this year. Teachers have been so encouraged to receive these kind and heartfelt messages.
Patton teachers and staff work so hard to support our students on a daily basis. We invite you to fill out this google form if you would like to recognize a staff member or a team for their hard work. We will pass on the good news to them. Thank you in advance for sending an encouraging word as we know it will mean so much to our staff. Staff who have received recognition have been so appreciative. It is such a wonderful way to brighten their day!
