The francophone job fair hosted at ASU was a successful learning opportunity for some of the French National Honor Society students to make many new networks and friends in the francophone community here in Arizona! We were also lucky to be able to give back to our community and be a part of the Feed My Starving Children organization and help support Uganda for the finale of our National French Week.

TEACHER HIGHLIGHTS
Mrs. Alex Czekaj's Honors Science and Technical Writing class is working in groups to create a detailed website to promote their product in preparation for a "Shark Tank style setting"! These students also have the opportunity to earn college credit through our Dual Enrollment program!
Mrs. Dawn Berkshire, a dedicated science teacher and Speech and Debate Coach at Hamilton High School, has been recognized with the University of Chicago Outstanding Teacher award. The honor was bestowed upon her by one of her former students, Arnav Nigam, who is currently attending the University of Chicago.
Arnav credits Mrs. Berkshire as a pivotal figure in his academic journey. He expressed deep gratitude for her commitment to Speech and Debate, emphasizing her unwavering support in helping students achieve their goals.
One particularly memorable experience for both Arnav and Mrs. Berkshire was their trip to Des Moines, Iowa, with a group of five students. When they missed their connecting flight, Mrs. Berkshire and her husband took extraordinary measures to ensure the team's participation in the competition. They rented an SUV and drove 10.5 hours overnight from Dallas to Des Moines.
Mrs. Berkshire's influence extended beyond academic pursuits. She actively supported Arnav in team elections and other endeavors. Her guidance and encouragement contributed to Arnav's remarkable achievement of being ranked among the top 10 nationally in public forum debate for a significant portion of the season.

HAMILTON/ACP STUDENTS AWARDED 1ST PLACE FOR GROUNDBREAKING DEVICE
Hamilton and ACP Students Awarded First Place for Groundbreaking Device Supporting Child with Muscle Control Challenges
In October, students from Hamilton High School and ACP took first place in the 2024 Makers of Change competition. Competing among 100 teams, their challenge was to create a custom device for Quincy, a child with Leigh's syndrome who has limited muscle control. The Hamilton and ACP team, named the Neuro-Power Navigators, included Raj R. P. (team lead), Sahasra M. (co-lead), Meghana M. (manufacturer), Amay A. (CAD designer), Mythri Y. (presenter), and Sumedh S. (video editor). They developed a versatile device that enables Quincy to sit comfortably on the ground with a detachable easel and connect her assistive equipment—such as her chair and stroller—using Velcro straps. This innovation reduces the number of items Quincy’s parents need to carry and enhances safety and comfort. The device, a robust prototype, underwent rigorous testing with a test dummy. The Neuro-Power Navigators won the Level 2 category for Concept and Design and received a $200 award for their outstanding work.
