District Update - August 6
Superintendent's Message
Can you believe it? Summer has flown by, and it's already time to gear up for another fantastic school year! I am thrilled to introduce myself as your new Superintendent and to continue serving this wonderful community, as I have for the past seven years as your Assistant Superintendent. Our team has been hard at work preparing for an incredible year filled with learning, growth, and fun. We're all excited to see our students' smiling faces fill our halls once again.
To help you get ready, we've put together a handy "Back-to-School Guide" with important dates and information leading up to our first day on September 3, 2024. Be on the lookout for follow-up newsletters from our principals with more building-specific details. Plus, don't miss our Back-to-School Rally at the Middle School from 5:00 - 7:00 PM on August 22. It's a perfect opportunity to kick off the school year with some fun and to come say hello!
Enjoy these last sunny days of summer! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to your building principal or the Board Office at 440-748-5353. Let's make this school year the best one yet!
Warm regards,
Dr. Frank Major, Superintendent

Free & Reduced-price Meals Update and Application
the State of Ohio FY24-FY25 biennial budget includes funding to cover the cost of providing no-cost breakfast and no-cost lunch to students qualifying for reduced-price meals. This means all families eligible for free OR reduced-price meals will receive breakfast and lunch at NO CHARGE, provided they complete the required application.
- Over 40% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price breakfast and lunch. Children from families whose annual income is at or below the federal income guidelines are eligible for free meals. We encourage all families who believe they may be eligible to apply.
The application process is easy and takes less than 10 minutes!
Applications are completely confidential and will not be shared outside of the district office. Since financial situations change from year to year, families must fill out a new application each year.
Every eligible form counts and is a valuable resource for our school. Submitting an application ensures that all Midview families can access key benefits.
Please visit our Food Services web page to read more about Free & Reduced and to complete the application.
Preschool & Kindergarten Information
We hope our youngest Middies are as excited as our staff is for the upcoming school year! Below are some key dates that families should keep in mind:
Preschool:
- Open House: September 5 from 5-6 p.m. at East Intermediate
- Preschool first day: September 10
Kindergarten:
- We are excited to share that all kindergarten classes will now be housed in North Elementary, rather than divided between West and North as in previous years!
- MANDATORY Screenings: August 13, 14, 15 from 9 a.m.-12 p.m. at North Elementary.
- Families who have successfully registered their child for the 2024-25 school year should have received an email detailing their date and time slot.
- Kindergarten first day: PLEASE NOTE that we have adjusted kindergarten's start date to implement a soft start. This allows a smaller group of kindergarten students to adjust to the school day more comfortably.
- ONLY students with last names beginning with A-L will attend on September 3.
- ONLY students with last names beginning with M-Z will attend on September 4.
- ALL kindergarten students will attend together on September 5.
Enrollment & Registration Updates
Completing FinalForms: FinalForms is our online platform that allows parents/guardians to update emergency medical authorization forms, provide contact information, complete athletic forms, and more for students while ensuring they stay connected to their children's schools. All forms MUST be reviewed, updated as necessary, and signed at the beginning of each new school year. This quick and easy process will take families less than 10 minutes!
Residency Affidavits: If you and your student(s) reside with another family within the Midview Local School District, you MUST provide a completed Residency Affidavit each year to ensure your child(ren) can be enrolled. Students will not be placed on a class roster or assigned a teacher for the 2024-2025 school year until the affidavit is completed. Families have been notified twice via email with more information. If you need assistance or have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Our goal is to ensure every student has a great start to the school year.
Meet Your Building Leadership
Please join us in welcoming our returning (and new) leadership to our buildings and the district! They look forward to serving our students and families.
