VMMS Community Connection
Week of October 7, 2024 - October 11, 2024
Greetings, Viper Community!
It was a fantastic week at VMMS. Our PE department hosted an interactive assembly with professional athletes representing the San Diego Legion Rugby team. Our Vipers learned about the key moves and rules of rugby.
Did you know that in rugby you can't throw any forward passes? Students got in the zone as participated in drills with our special guests. A big shoutout goes to Mrs. Castellanos who brought this memorable experience to our Viper athletes!
We also wanted to remind all families about the Civic Center parking lot closure. We understand that this will impact our collective drop off/pick up flow at VMMS. It is very important that we utilize the available supervised areas on Eucalyptus Dr. and Citrus Ave. Please do not drop off on Civic Center Dr. in front of the school, where there is through traffic. We appreciate your adherence to all safety precautions and your patience as we navigate this change to our routine.
Please call the office at (760) 726-5766 or visit the office M-F from 8:00-4:00 if you have any questions or need assistance.
Thank you!

Important Update on the Civic Center Parking Lot
NEW! IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ!
The Civic Center Parking Lot (located across the street from the VMMS front entrance) will be CLOSED beginning Oct. 7th through March 2025. The City of Vista will be installing a solar carport structure. Many VMMS students get dropped off in the morning and are picked up in the afternoon through this lot. Please reroute your routine and utilize our supervised drop off/pick up areas found in the back of VMMS.
Refrain from using the business parking lots located on Civic Center and/or blocking traffic on the main/side streets (this is a very unsafe way of dropping/picking up your student, please don't do this).
Supervised Pick-Up and Drop-Off located on Eucalyptus Ave. or enter through the field at the Citrus Ave. gate. Utilize the Pick Up/Drop off Loop for easy access. This typically flows very quickly and is SAFER for our Viper students.

Academic Learning Labs
Permission slips went out to select students (teacher referrals) for the Academic Learning Labs. These specialized classes are for intervention support in reading/math and work habits study hall for organization and assignment assistance. If there is additional space, ALL students will have the opportunity to sign up. Permissions slips will be available in the office soon.
We look forward to our Vipers engaging in these additional opportunities to BELONG and ACHIEVE!
Donations Needed for Guitar Lab
Guitar Lab is a popular enrichment lab that is NEW this school year. We thank Mr. Sullins for sharing his passion and musical talent for our Vipers. If you are able, please consider donating any guitars, nylon strings, or guitar picks. Please bring donations to the front office.
Your generosity is greatly appreciated. We are excited to see our Vipers rock on!
Be Epic: Make a Positive Impact
At VMMS we have a comprehensive system of support for our Viper families.
Our Community Liaison, Art Flores and our School Social Worker, Alicia Tabares are EPIC! They help Viper families make connections with our local community to provide access to resources that support the whole child. Please reach out to the school office at 760-726-5766 if your family is in need.
Community School Spotlight
As a Community School, we recently connected with the Sallie A. Hunt Foundation who donated awesome kicks to many of our Vipers. We are grateful for their partnership with VMMS. Please check out the good work they do in Vista and around the world by visiting their website. They exemplify the IB mindset of "Think globally, Act locally."
