Oak Grove Elementary
August 2024 edition
Message from the Principals
Dear Oak Grove Families,
We are so excited to welcome you and your student(s) to the 2024-25 school year! Our skilled and devoted staff is busy planning and preparing for your child(ren). Our fantastic office team is registering new families, ordering needed materials, and updating student files. Our hard-working custodians have spent the entire summer thoroughly cleaning our campus. You might also notice that an outdoor covered area was constructed on our playground! This area will provide extra space for PE, recess, or even outdoor class time. All we need now are our amazing students!
This year, we are bringing back a former Oak Grove motto: “From Little Acorns Mighty Oaks Grow.” We will also be starting the year with a “Kindness Kickoff.” Our definition of kindness is acting with understanding, generosity, and care. Please look for more information in the “Kindness Kickoff Family Connection” letter which will come home with students during the first week of school.
Please join us on Thursday, August 22nd from 5-7 PM for Open House at Oak Grove. Students will be able to meet their teacher and find their classroom (however classrooms will not be open as teachers are still working on getting them ready for students). We will also have ice cream and community resources available.
We are so looking forward to seeing students and families again. It remains an honor and privilege to serve as your Principal and Assistant Principal. Together, let’s make this school year one full of growth, achievement, and fun for all children!
Warmly,
Amanda and Heather

Student Birthdays
In order to keep things as equitable as possible for our students, we have made the decision to celebrate student birthdays monthly. Once a month, we will have a special celebration and provide a treat for all of the students who have a birthday that month. This will be in lieu of families bringing in class birthday treats and goodie bags. If you would like to celebrate your child’s birthday with them at school, an idea would be to have lunch with them in our Commons area by the front office. Just please remember to check in when you arrive. We understand that this is disappointing for some parents, please know that our ultimate goal is providing the most productive and equitable learning environment possible for all of our students.
