The UIL Academics Team competed in the 3A - Region 1 Contest in Abilene (April 27) - places are listed below as reported.
Rylee Aguilar - Prose Interpretation - 1st Place - State Qualifier
Faith Tucker - Ready Writing - 4th Place - State Alternate & Feature Writing - 4th Place - State Alternate
Ella Baker - Ready Writing - 5th Place
Sophie Blankenburg - Science - 20th Place
Fuyu Dai - Accounting - 34th Place
Nic Fox - Number Sense - 43rd Place
Rylee will compete in Prose Interpretation at the UIL State Academic Meet on May 14 and 15 at the University of Texas at Austin. Congratulations to all of the UIL participants and good luck to Rylee at State!
Yearbooks
Time is running out to order a 2024 BHS Yearbook -- As of today, only 23 copies remain for sale! If your student has not gotten theirs, they can scan the QR code on the posters in the hallway to order one online before they're all gone!
FFA
The Blanco FFA Banquet Wednesday, May 8th, at 6:00 PM, at Twin Sisters Dance Hall. Many degrees and awards will be given to members and jr. members. Several individuals and teams will be recognized for their accomplishments, and 2024 senior FFA members will be sent off with a special retiring of the jacket ceremony. The 2024-20245 chapter officer team will also be introduced.

TNT Awards is the provider for class rings. If you are interested in ordering a class ring for your sophomore (soon to be junior) student, please see the information below.
Powder Puff
Project Graduation will be having the Powder Puff game on May 21st at 5 pm. We will have a Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, and Senior team. Students interested in playing need to sign up with Ms. Corder
Track & Field
Reggie Johnson and Madison Hunter competed at the UIL State Track Meet in Austin this week. Reggie finished third in the discus with a throw of 169' 4" and 5th in the shot put with a throw of 54' 8.25" (an new BHS record). Madison was 7th in the 100M Hurdles running 15.25.
Congratulations to Reggie and Madison for their accomplishment and thank you for representing Blanco HS well.
Golf
BHS Junior Sophia Young qualified for the state tournament as a medalist! She will be competing May 6 and 7 at Shadow Glenn Golf Course. Good Luck Sophia!
Baseball
The Baseball team played their Bidistrict playoff games on Thursday (May 2) against Merkel at Lake View HS in San Angelo. The Panthers were the first place team in District 5-3A. Merkel was the 4th place team from District 6-3A. The format was a best of 3 series with 2 games scheduled Thursday and one game (if needed Friday) in Llano. The Panthers made short work of the Badgers in game 1 winning 11-1 in five innings due to the 10 run mercy rule. The Panthers took game 2 as well 6-2 to advance to the Area Round next week. The opponent will be the winner of the Jacksboro and Breckenridge games with the date, and time to be determined.
Tennis
The Tennis Team competed in the District Tennis Tournament Monday and Tuesday (April 22 & 23). The doubles team of Foster Capshaw and Justin Karnes finished second and will advanec to the regional tournament at Rose Park Tennis Center in Abilene May 8-9.
Construction Update
The pad is complete for the Educational Center for the Arts. The second round of concrete for the foundation was poured (Wednesday 4/17). Bricks are on site, and the walls of the ECA are going up. The ECA is scheduled to be completed in the Spring of 2025.
Part of the field house foundation was poured on Thursday (April 25). The field house should be ready early in the upcoming football season.

Shout Outs!
In an effort to recognize contributions and accomplishments of BHS students and staff, we will be giving shout outs to individuals or groups who have made and impact, represented Blanco HS well, done a good deed, gone above and beyond expectations, extended a helping hand, received an award, or just did something cool. These are the BHS Shout Outs for the week:

Athletic Tickets
Fans can also download the Home Town Ticketing app to their smartphone and order tickets through the app.
Tickets are usually available for purchase 3-5 days prior to the contest. In person (cash) tickets will not be available at the gate/door.
This will only apply to BISD HOME games. We have no control over how other schools sell their tickets. If other venues require online ticketing, we will provide that information as soon as we have it.
