A Note from Principal Presley
Another beautiful week! No indoor recess and lots of sunshine- who could ask for anything more.
On Tuesday, our staff began work on class placements for the 24-25 school year. If you haven't had the opportunity to provide input, click here. This Tuesday night, we had our final PTA meeting of the year! Thursday evening, I was able to attend a collaborative event that focused on culturally affirming, deeply engaging, and data driven ways to increase culture in the classroom. The focus for my group was how building leaders could play a role by not only modeling but being more intentional with times already available and people who are already rocking it within our building to grow in these areas!
This morning, Kristin Lasher (or guest counselor) came and presented to families at a special Coffee Talk edition on parenting. Her focus was focusing on the 4:1 positive feedback to redirection ratio. She talked about the four common ways we sabotage ourselves in the process. It was an amazing teaser for families and really good reminders for myself as the principal of a school! The presentation should be available next week!
Finally, as the weather warms up, it seems students are arriving earlier and earlier to school to play! As a reminder, teacher supervision begins at 8:40 AM.
Have a great weekend!!

Successful Schools Survey
Dear families,
Today Portland Public Schools begins the annual Successful Schools Survey. The Successful Schools Survey is an opportunity for students, staff, and families to provide important feedback on their school environments, learning experiences, and sense of well-being and safety at school.
The survey is conducted once every school year to provide timely information to schools, district leadership, and the community, allowing us to make informed decisions about school climate and culture. This year, the survey window is open May 6-31.
Portland Public Schools highly values the input and opinions of its families, and we welcome all PPS parents and guardians to complete this year’s survey. We use the data to help improve our schools, providing targeted feedback and training on how to create healthy school environments that are welcoming for all.
You can complete the Successful Schools Survey online using the link provided below. Please complete one survey per household. If you have more than one student at PPS, we ask that you complete the survey considering the experiences of your eldest child.
The survey will take approximately 15-30 minutes to complete and is available in English, Spanish, Russian, Somali, Vietnamese and Chinese.
