On April 8, a total eclipse will be visible in the Chicagoland area. The following is the timeline for the total solar eclipse in the Chicagoland area:

12:51 pm Total Eclipse Begins

2:08 pm Max Point of the Total Eclipse

3:22 pm Total Eclipse Ends

Westgate students and staff are planning to participate in viewing all or part of the eclipse. Should you decide to opt your child out of that experience, please contact your child's teacher. We will provide them with an alternate activity.

For students participating in the viewing, we will supply each student with the proper protective eyewear. Students MUST wear the protective eyewear in order to go outside during the total eclipse timeframe. We will speak to our students about how to responsibly experience the total eclipse and about the necessary safety precautions when going outside during a total eclipse.

We had many students move on to the Regional Competition, and we recently learned that the music composition by Hope M. has now advanced to the state level competition!! Best of luck to Hope at State!

All of the Reflections submissions will be exhibited at the Art Gallery event happening on Wednesday, April 3rd.

To that end, it is important to understand that requests for a specific teacher will not be considered, as allowing parents to request teachers puts a significant strain on an already extensive process.
