October - The Scorpion Sting

Principal Corner!
Did you see our new marquee? We look forward to getting it up and running soon with up to date information for quarter 2 as we welcome back all of our students and families.
As the temperatures cool we begin to see an influx of fevers and various viruses. Here is a guide to help families to determine when it is best to keep a student home.
- Fever - Keep your child home until fever is below 100.4 for 24 hours without the use of a fever reducing medication.
- Severe cough and cold
- Diarrhea in the last 24 hours
- Red eyes with discharge
- Lice
- Rash with fever
- Vomiting within the last 24 hours
- Not feeling well enough to participate in school activities
Not every health office visit leads to a call home. You will receive a call if it is something concerning or if your child makes multiple visits in one day. If we do not make a call, please be on the lookout for correspondence from the Health Office with a quick note in regards to why your student visited. Correspondence from the health office will likely come home on orange paper.

Good to know....
We strive to keep our arrival and dismissal efficient and safe. Here are a few procedures to be aware of.
Morning Drop Off
- Use the carline if you are brining your child to school. Your child should be able to exit the car without staff assistance and head to the cafeteria.
- Stay in the carline and do not pass other cars.
- If you use the parking lot, make sure to park in a designated parking spot before letting your student exit the car. This maximizes student safety.
- All students and parents should use the cross walks at all times
Dismissal
- Carline pick up vehicles must have a yellow sign on the passenger side of the dashboard. If you forget your sign, just pull in and park in the parking lot and come to the front office with your ID. We will verify identity and release your student to you.
- Parking lot pick up cars must find a designated parking spot for student pick up. Additional space is always available by the side gate (dirt lot).
Stellar Scorpion Way
Stinger Store
Our students have enjoyed earning PBIS tickets (Stellar Scorpion Tickets) for following the Santa Rosa ABC's (Acting Respectful, Being Responsible, and Caring for our school) and spending them on a variety of items in the Stinger Store on Friday's throughout August and September.
Prizes include small items such as candy, small toys, bags of chips, and larger items like sports balls and even scooters (prizes change monthly)!
Attendance Matters!
At Santa Rosa Elementary School, every day counts! Regular attendance is key to your child’s academic success, social development, and overall well-being. When students attend school consistently, they build good habits, stay on track with learning, and engage in meaningful relationships with teachers and peers. Each day offers new opportunities for growth, and being present ensures your child doesn’t miss out. Your child’s future starts with showing up--don't let them miss out!
