Principal's Message From Dr. Otway
🎉 Outstanding GMAS Science, Math & ELA Achievements! 🎉
State released the final GMAS scores from last school year and we’re thrilled to celebrate the success of our 4th and 5th-grade students at College Park Elementary on the April 2024 Georgia Milestones!
We are excited to announce the exceptional results from the April 2024 Georgia Milestones. Fulton County Schools (FCS) once again outperformed both the state and RESA (Regional Educational Service Agency) in combined proficient and distinguished scores. These achievements are particularly meaningful as they reflect the updated K-12 Mathematics Standards, first implemented during the 2023-24 school year.
At College Park Elementary, we are proud to play a key role in this success as we continue building our legacy of leadership.
📚 4th Grade Math:
- 10% increase in students scoring Proficient!
- 3% reduction in students scoring at the Beginning level!
📖 5th Grade Math, ELA & Science:
- 5% increase in students scoring Distinguished in Math!
- 7% increase in students scoring Proficient in ELA!
- 19% increase in students scoring Proficient in Science!
- 6% decrease in students scoring at the Beginning level in Math!
- 7% decrease in students scoring at the Beginning level in ELA!
- 14% decrease in students scoring at the Beginning level in Science!
Together, we continue to build our Legacy of Leadership through excellence in education. Let’s keep striving for greatness! 💪✨
Our 2025 goal is for 100% of our students in K-5 to increase 1 achievement level, K-2 on iReady & 3rd-5th on the GMAS.

Hispanic Heritage Month
ESOL Teacher Mrs. Price
What does Hispanic Heritage Month mean to you?
As an ESOL teacher, Hispanic Heritage Month is an excellent opportunity to celebrate Hispanic and Latinx communities' culture, traditions, and contributions, especially since many of my students come from these backgrounds. It helps promote inclusion, understanding, and pride in their heritage while teaching others about cultural diversity.
What Hispanic figures or role models inspire you, and why?
I’m inspired by Sonia Sotomayor, the first Latina Supreme Court Justice, for her perseverance in overcoming barriers as a woman of color. Eva Longoria is inspiring for her acting success and dedication to supporting the Hispanic community. She shows how someone can use their influence to give back, promote representation, and fight for equality. Both remind me how important representation is for my students.
If you could live in any Hispanic or Latin American country, which would you choose, and what makes it appealing?
The Dominican Republic appeals to me for its vibrant culture, rich history, and beautiful landscapes. Immersing myself in its warm and welcoming environment would offer an excellent chance to learn more about the country's traditions, music, and art while building meaningful connections with local communities.

Report Don't Repost
Fulton County Schools is launching the “Report, Don’t Repost” campaign to educate our community about the critical importance of reporting threats seen on social media, rather than sharing them. In today’s digital landscape, harmful content can spread quickly, leading to confusion and unnecessary panic.
We encourage you to talk to your children about the importance of reporting threats directly to local authorities or through our anonymous FCS Tip Line at www.fultonschools.org/tipline. Sharing threats online can hinder police investigations and could even result in serious consequences.
Key Points to Remember:
- See a threat? Report it immediately to local authorities.
- Anonymous reporting: Use our FCS Tip Line at www.fultonschools.org/tipline.
- Don’t repost threats: Sharing can cause confusion and may put you at risk.
Let’s work together to ensure a safe environment for our students. Thank you for your support!
