Kimball School District
Happy Holidays to Families 2024
✨ Holiday Greetings!
Dear Parents, Students, Teachers, and Community Members,
As we approach the holiday season, I want to reflect on the incredible support, hard work, and dedication that make our school and community special. This year has been filled with achievements, growth, and memories that we can all be proud of.
Our commitment to public education is at the heart of our community. Together, we are shaping the future by providing a strong foundation for our students to grow, learn, and thrive. Your unwavering support of our school ensures that every child in Kimball has access to the tools they need to succeed; for that, I am deeply grateful.
On behalf of the entire Kimball School District, I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a wonderful start to the new year. I hope your new year is filled with great health, happiness, and success. May this holiday season bring moments with family and friends.
Thank you for all you do to strengthen our school and community. I look forward to seeing what we can accomplish together in the year ahead!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Winter Break ⛄
There will be no school on the following dates due to Winter Break:
Monday, December 23 - Friday, January 3rd.
School will RESUME on Monday, January 6, 2025.
Winter Weather FYI
Adverse weather conditions are inevitable in South Dakota, so I want to share our procedures for late starts, early dismissals, and school cancelations.
First and foremost, we must remind our young drivers to plan ahead and allow more time when traveling to and from school during the winter months. As a parent/guardian, it’s your right to keep your child/children home from school if you don’t feel it’s safe for them to travel. We go to great lengths to avoid putting you in situations like this, but our district covers a large area. Weather conditions can vary significantly from one side of the district to the other. Please communicate with the school office if you do not feel it’s safe to allow your child to drive on a day when school is still in session. If your child needs to leave school early to avoid adverse weather conditions on the way home, please communicate with the school office.
Road checks begin around 4:30 am, and the school message regarding a late start will be sent out no later than 6 am. Suppose you do not receive a notification from the district notification system (Kimball Schools App and/or phone call). In that case, delays and closings will be broadcast on the following media outlets: TV- KELO, KSFY, Radio-KOOL (98.3FM), Q107.3, and KMIT (105.9FM). Weather delays will also be published on the district website at https://www.kimball.k12.sd.us/ and the school's Facebook page.
When school is delayed, there will be no AM preschool, and breakfast will not be served. In the case of an early dismissal, we will follow the same notification procedures. Depending on the dismissal time, we will serve lunch if possible.
Late starts, early dismissals, and school cancellations are always difficult decisions. We go to great lengths to make the best decisions to keep our students and staff safe. As I previously stated, if there’s ever a time when school is in session, and you don’t feel it’s safe for your child to be on the roads, please communicate with the school office.
As always, thank you for your support and for continuing to make the Kimball School District a great place to learn, work, and grow.
