The Wallin Way Weekly Newsletter
December 6th, 2024
Good Evening K9 Families,
Welcome Back! It was so great to see all of our students back in the building after Thanksgiving break! We’ve had an exciting week of learning and are thrilled to jump into the next stretch of our school year together.
Next week, students will be participating in iReady testing for both Math and ELA. This is an important opportunity for us to see just how much our students are growing in their learning. Please talk with your student about these testing strategies to help them feel prepared and confident:
- Get a good night’s rest before each testing day.
- Eat a solid breakfast to fuel their brains.
- Take their time and double-check answers.
- Use scratch paper for math problems when needed.
- Most importantly, believe in themselves and try their best!
We’ve got some exciting incentives in store! The highest risers in Math and ELA from each classroom—those showing the most growth from fall to winter—will earn the chance to pie me and our assistant principal during an all-school assembly on the last day of school! Let’s cheer on our K9s as they strive for success!
As a reminder, we are still collecting submissions for our yearbook cover contest. We’ve already seen some incredible designs, and we can’t wait to see even more. Encourage your student to get creative and submit their drawing by the last day of winter break. After all submissions are collected, the entire school will have the chance to vote for this year’s cover!
We hope you all have a wonderful weekend! Thank you for your continued support in helping our students succeed. Let’s make this upcoming week amazing!

Pick Up and Drop Off Reminders
Morning Drop Off
We kindly ask that families do not park at Ira Jones when dropping off students. Please be sure to pull into the designated car line to ensure a safe and smooth drop-off process for everyone. Following this procedure helps keep traffic flowing and ensures the safety of all students.
Additionally, please avoid pulling up to the front of the school before 8:30 a.m. Arriving early causes our preschool parents to get stuck in the car line. To help keep traffic flowing smoothly, please wait until after 8:30 before lining up to drop off students.
Afternoon Pick Up
Please remember to turn off your car while waiting to pick up your student after school. Running cars pose a safety risk for students and teachers walking up and down the car lines, and it's also important to reduce the fumes in the air for everyone’s health. Thank you for helping us keep our school environment safe and healthy!
