Wiggin Street Parent Update
October 28, 2022
Better Together
Families,
It was nice seeing families in the building during Parent/Teacher Conferences, at the Scholastic Book Fair, and there was a great turnout for Pumpkins on Parade! You may have also seen the new climbing wall mats that were installed, and you all made this possible. They were purchased with the proceeds from our Mumkin sale and can be seen here. If you would still like to purchase items from the book fair, you can do so through Oct. 31st using the link shared below.
If you are available this Sunday at 1:00, we will be painting on the playground. You can read the details below and will be keeping our fingers crossed for dry weather.
Details are also included in this update about our Fall Harvest Parade/Parties on Monday, 3rd Grade State Testing starting Wednesday, and Chess Club for Grades 3-5 on Thursdays.
Best wishes,
Christy Grandstaff

3. Layout and paint 2 2 square courts
4. Outline and paint circles for spike ball
5. Layout and paint obstacle / locomotor / race course
6. Paint arrows around perimeter for a distance specific “walking” track
7. Paint specific shooting spots at one of the half court basketball areas on far end
8. Paint perimeter and “official” line on basketball court (1 full court, 1 half court)
Chess Club for Grades 3-5
We are excited to offer Chess Club this school year for students in grades 3-5! Kenyon students will be leading the club on Thursdays during the lunch hour with supervision by teachers. Students will be able to bring their lunch up to room 307 and learn the game of Chess. Students must be in grades 3-5 to participate.
Permission slips will be going home this Monday and can also be found here. These are due to their homeroom teacher prior to beginning the club which will begin this Thursday, November 3rd. The permission slip is for participation which takes place during the students’ lunch period.
Fall Harvest Parade and Parties
Costumes should come to school in a bag and children should be able to get in and out of their costumes easily. (If you feel your child needs help with his/her costume, please contact the classroom teacher.) Please make sure that there are no scary costumes because of our younger students. There should be no Halloween masks. No pretend weapons of any kind are permitted at school even as a part of the costume. Please save those for trick-or-treat night.
We ask parents not to pass out treats along the route, however some of the local businesses may pass out candy to kids. Any treats brought to school for the class parties must be individually wrapped.
3rd Grade Fall ELA Ohio State Testing
On November 2nd and 3rd, 3rd grade students will take the Fall administration of the state English Language Arts Assessment. In case of absence, the make up day will be November 4th. The test will take place between 9:30-11:30 on these days. We would ask that you please not schedule any special appointments for these dates.

PBIS Extra Recess Reward- What's next quarter's event?
Our PBIS reward event for this first quarter was a great success. The students received an extra recess on Thursday afternoon with the Kenyon athletes for earning at least 25 PBIS Rewards' points. The Kenyon athletes jumped right in to cheer the students on and play all the games the playground has to offer. The students even got some extra equipment to use. The huge parachute was a hit. The smiles on the students' faces says it all!
For our next PBIS reward, students will be earning points to redeem for a Popcorn and a Movie event. Students will be working on earning 50 points for this next quarter to be able to attend. We are so proud of our students for showing respect for themselves, others, and the space!
