January/February 2025 Newsletter
Safe, On-Task, Accountable, Respectful
From Dr. Cardenas, Principal
Dear Evergreen Families,
I hope this newsletter finds you well. It has been an exciting month of January, filled with several wonderful activities and events that have enriched our school community.
We were delighted to welcome the Diamond Bar High School Future Business Leaders, who shared their experiences and insights with our students. Our latest Spirit Assembly brought the usual enthusiasm and school pride we've come to expect from our Evergreen family. Kindness Week was a particular highlight, with students and staff embracing our themed dress days and demonstrating what makes our community so special.
I continue to be impressed by our students taking on leadership roles both in and outside of their classrooms. Their dedication to personal growth and commitment to serving others exemplifies the values we strive to instill at Evergreen.
I am incredibly proud of all our students, staff, and community members. Your ongoing support and engagement make Evergreen the exceptional place it is. Let's keep this wonderful momentum going as we head into February.
With Appreciation,
Dr. Cardenas Principal,
Evergreen Elementary School

Evergreen to be a host school for the upcoming Leader in Me Symposium
We are excited to share that Franklin Covey has chosen Evergreen to serve as a host school during this year's Leader in Me Symposium in Los Angeles County. This recognition presents an outstanding opportunity to showcase our school's successful implementation of the Leader in Me program.
Evergreen will host approximately 100 attendees, educators from several school districts for a special Leadership Day visit from 10:15 AM to 12:00 PM on Thursday, March 13. What makes this event particularly special is that it will be 90% student-led, demonstrating our students' remarkable growth and leadership development in just our second year of implementation.
We will share additional details shortly. Thank you to our students, staff, and families for helping make this implementation such a success!

Kindness Week is a huge success!
Kindness Week: A Colorful Celebration of Caring!
Our school community came together for an incredible Kindness Week filled with creativity, enthusiasm, and heartwarming displays of compassion! Each day brought new opportunities for students to express and spread kindness through themed dress-up days that brightened our hallways and lifted spirits.
Students kicked off the week looking ultra-cool in their sunglasses for "Kindness is Cool" Monday. The energy continued with "Think Pink Tuesday," where a sea of pink represented our commitment to compassion and care. Wednesday doubled the fun as students coordinated outfits for Twin Day, creating special bonds and plenty of smiles. Our school community got cozy on Thursday for "Dream of Kindness" in comfortable clothing and pajamas. The week culminated in a stunning rainbow of kindness on Friday, with each grade level sporting their designated colors โ from our TK/K students in red to our fifth graders in purple.
A special highlight was our school-wide backdrop project, which created a lasting reminder of our commitment to kindness. Thank you to our dedicated Kindness student action team and facilitators who worked tirelessly to make this week such a success. The spirit of kindness they helped foster will continue to ripple through our school community long after this special week.
Together, we showed that kindness never goes out of style!
DBHS FBLA
Our kids had the opportunity to learn how to be entrepreneurs, thanks to the incredible business students from Diamond Bar High! ๐ก They kicked things off with a fun and creative mission: Aliens have landed on our school campus! ๐ฝ
The students teamed up in groups of 10 to brainstorm and pitch innovative alien products designed to keep everyone safe. The results? Out-of-this-world creativity! ๐
Our teachers had the tough job of judging all the amazing ideas, and we have to say, the kids absolutely crushed it. ๐ It was such a blast seeing their teamwork and imagination come to life. ๐ธโจ
