Tuesday, August 12: FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!!!

August 15th, 16th, and 19th: Middle School Fall Sports Tryouts!

Wednesday, August 28th: 3rd Grade BOG test

Monday, September 2: NO SCHOOL - Labor Day

MS Fall Sports Tryouts will be held on August 15th, 16th and 19th

6th, 7th and 8th graders are eligible to tryout for All MS Sports Teams. Make sure your DragonFly account is in the GREEN!

All participants MUST check in and get a band to show they are approved prior to tryouts!

August 15th, 16th and 19th
Check-In (where you will get your clearance band) will be August 15th in the MS Gym Lobby at 3:30pm. If a student does not get a band on August 15th, they will need to come to HS Gym to check in at 3:30pm on August 16th or 19th.

Tryouts Location and Times: All MS tryouts will be 3:30-5pm each day of tryouts on campus at NCLA... Students should remain in their last period class after final bell until they are released by their teachers.

In order to be cleared to participate ALL Students need a Complete 2024-25 DragonFly account or Set up your account at DragonFlyMax.com. Everyone is to request the 7th grade level of each team you are interested in trying out for. Forms may now be signed for the upcoming season. You Must have a valid NCHSAA Preparticipation Physical Evaluation Form. The 2024-25 form is attached here: https://www.nchsaa.org/sites/default/files/attachments/2023-24PPEForm_English.pdf. Upload each sheet of the PPE in it's corresponding section of DragonFly or it will be rejected for correction.

IF YOUR STUDENT HAS ITEMS IN DF THAT ARE WAITING APPROVAL, email myself or our athletic trainer, Zach Hamm, at zhamm@thencla.org to let us know the student has forms that need attention. Otherwise, we will not know until they come check-in!

All middle school students are required to complete summer reading before the first day of school. Students will be tested on their comprehension and knowledge of the books at the beginning of the school year. Make sure your child has their book read by the first day of school!

Rising 6th Graders: Call it Courage by Armstrong Sperry

Rising 7th Graders: Students have the option of reading either The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordian or Anatomy: A Love Story by Dana Schwartz.

Rising 8th Graders: The Boys in the Boat (Young Readers Adaptation) by Daniel James Brown

Auditions are Thursday and Friday, August 22-23, from 3:30-5pm in Room #705 of the High School Building! All details are in the attached document.
