Secure School Protocol
Hazardville Memorial initiated a secure school protocol on Monday, May 13th, at 10:20am, lasting for approximately 15 minutes. At no time were students or staff in any danger. We thank all of our staff and students for their cooperation.
Thank you!
On behalf of the entire HMS staff, I want to thank our PTO and all of the wonderful families who contributed to making Teacher Appreciation Week so special. We appreciate your kindness and generosity!
Field Day
Field Day is Thursday, 5/30. Please make sure that students have on sneakers and clothes that they can run around in and get dirty. Students will not be given field day shirts this year. However, to promote school spirit, we encourage students to wear the grade level color listed below.
Kindergarten- Red
Grade 1- Green
Grade 2- Blue
iPads
In the next few weeks, we will be doing our end of year assessments, many of which require the iPad. To make sure all students are ready for testing, you may not see your child's iPad come home everyday so that they are charged and in the classroom for testing.
PAWS Time
During PAWS Time on Thursday, May 9th, HMS students listened to the book “The Bear and the Piano” written by David Litchfield and read by Mrs. Sengupta. Classes discussed examples of friendship in the story, then each student created a piano card to share with a friend.

Teacher and Classroom Requests for 2024-2025 School Year
Dear caregivers,
Many caregivers contact me regarding preferences for their child’s classroom assignment for the upcoming school year. Much professional thought and effort is put into placing your child into next year’s classes. A variety of factors are considered (social, emotional, behavioral and academic) as your child is placed. If you have any additional information regarding your child’s needs in these areas, please share it with me in writing. This important task contributes significantly to the creation of a positive class environment that enables students to reach their potential. I will keep your request on file, and the academic team will certainly consider it, but cannot give any guarantees to a specific teacher or classroom. Unfortunately, we cannot accept requests for particular classroom/teacher placements. Luckily, our students have shown remarkable growth this year, which is evidence that we have an outstanding teaching staff here at Hazardville Memorial School.
You will receive a letter over summer break with information about your child’s teacher and room number.
Thank you in advance for your understanding of our professional processes.
Respectfully,
Miss Fitzsimons
We filled our bucket!!
Congratulations to Rooms 11, 20, 8, K2, K6, K1, and 15 who filled their classroom buckets this week!
Keep up the great work! We have many classrooms who are close to filling their buckets and know that all of our HMS students will keep working hard showing our PAWS expectations every day! When classrooms fill their buckets, they earn a class reward. Some examples of rewards we have seen so far this year: PJ day, Stuffed Animal Day, Fort Day, and extra recess.
