Blind Spot - An area in which one fails to discriminate judgement or discrimination
Dear Parents,
You may have noticed the Little Black Book of Lent at the entrance of Saint Mary Church. As a part of my Lenten prayer life, I have been reading excerpts from the book each day and have been praying and reflecting upon them. An entry from March 20 about Edme Mariotte, a 17th century Catholic priest and physicist, caught my attention. Mariotte discovered the “blind spot” in the human eye. The reflection that follows asks us to consider our own “blind spots,” not the literal blind spots, but the blind spots that keep us from truly living our lives as Catholics and following the gospel. The reflection reminds us that we each have “blind spots” and that prayer and spending time with our Lord will help us to uncover them. Recognizing our blind spots is not easy, but it is only when we recognize them that we can make change and better unite ourselves with Christ.
God Bless,
Rachel
