Dear Students and Parents,
I hope this message finds you well. We are excited to invite you to our upcoming 11th-grade informational night, where we will have a speaker from the Higher Education Coordination Committee discussing important senior dates and providing information on post-secondary options, financial aid, scholarships and much more.

Time: 5:30-7:30pm
Location: Sheldon High School C9
This event is a great opportunity for students and parents to learn about the upcoming senior year, key dates to remember, and important milestones in the college application process. Our team of counselors and advisors will be available to provide guidance and answer any questions you may have.
We encourage all 11th-grade students and their parents to attend this event to ensure a smooth transition into their senior year and to kickstart their college preparation journey.
We look forward to seeing you at the 11th-grade informational night and working together to prepare for a successful senior year and college application process.

NW Cyber Camp
Announcing NW Cyber Camp 2024, the premier cybersecurity summer camp in Oregon! This year's camp (July 22-26) includes scenario-based hands-on learning, and expert guest speakers from the cybersecurity industry. Join us at the University of Oregon for an exciting week of exploring cybersecurity concepts and building real-world skills that can propel your academic and career goals. The camp is FREE for all students, but space is limited and we expect to fill up fast. Please note that only students from high schools within the 60-miles radius of Eugene are eligible to register in this camp.
Seniors!!!
- May 1st is National Decision day ( some schools are extending to June 1st)
- Take you AP and IB tests to receive college credit
- If you are attending a 4-year college and living on campus, make sure to complete housing registration materials
- Submit any requested tax forms or other documentations to the college financial aid office and order a Tax Transcript if your FAFSA is under review irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript
- Accept financial aid offer from the college you will be attending.
- Complete Oregon Promise application (community college applicants)
- Notify all schools of your decision.
- Check your email and OSAC Student Portal for notifications.
- Complete FAFSA or ORSAA
- Write thank you notes to scholarship donors
- If community college bound, take placement test
- Continue logging into your OSAC Student account to check for notifications and/or scholarship awards.
- Sign into your college student portal and review your task list and deadlines.

Need something to do this summer? Want to learn the basics of a hands-on life skill? Check out one or more of Lane Community College’s summer 2024 early college camps.
Participants are selected through a lottery. If selected, you will actively be participating in your future and it is all free! Transportation is on your own. Parking is free at Lane and LTD buses come to our campus. These camps are only for high school students (Class of 2025-2028)

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's) credits/credentials/certifications
Q:How long is the HOPE Factory experience? A: Full academic school year, September - June
Q: How many high school credits does a student earn?
A: A minimum of (2) high school credits are earned. Some schools are able to offer more credits.
Q: What are the specific high school courses?
A: Students earn a minimum of (1) Work Experience credit for factory floor time and (1) Advanced Training for classroom instruction= 2 HS credits and possibly 1 language arts and 1 math credit (for reverse transfer from LCC).
Q: What dual credits/Lane CC credits are possible to earn at HOPE?
A: Students have the option to earn (4) APR 101/Trade Skills Fundamentals, (4) MTH 85/Trades Math, and (4) WR 115w/Technical Report Writing, at no cost= (12) LCC credits.
Q: Are the LCC dual credit courses taught at HOPE?
A: APR 101 is taught while students are on site at HOPE. The Writing and Math courses are offered asynchronously through Moodie. Students who enroll in WR or MTH will be offered some support on site, however, schools need to be aware that students may need extra support in order to be successful.
Q: Does the Program cost any money?
A: This is a School District/Lane ESD sponsored Program and free to students.
Q: Do students receive Personal Protective Equipment and supplies? A: Students will be given boots, safety gear, and a tool kit
Q: What credentials/certifications will students receive at HOPE?
A: Students will receive First Aid/CPR, OSHA 10, NCCER credentials, as well as a BOLi Pre-Apprenticeship Certification
Q: Is HOPE Factory connected to CTE Manufacturing and Construction Programs in high schools?
A: Yes! HOPE Factory is an extension of each CTE Program, therefore building Program completers. Credits earned by students at HOPE feed directly back to each student's home school. If a school doesn't have a CTE Program in Construction or Manufacturing, students will earn elective CTE credits.
Q: Is the Program open to only Seniors?
A: HOPE is giving preference to Juniors and Seniors, but open to Sophomores if they are ready to apply.
Q: Are there prerequisites for HOPE?
A: No, there are no pre-requisite classes for HOPE. However, this is not a career exploration program. Students need to have taken at least one related CTE course in their school or have some personal experience in the trades (i.e. help a family member in the summer with a construction project)

Before each year of college, apply for federal grants, work-study, and loans with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®) form. Your college uses your FAFSA data to determine your federal aid eligibility. Many states and colleges use FAFSA data to award their own aid.

Pre- Apprenticeship: Gain Experience.
Pre-Apprenticeship programs provide:
An approved training curriculum. Learn fundamental skills specific to your industry to help you feel ready for an apprenticeship.
Educational and pre-vocational services. Sharpen your math skills. Master the art of blueprint reading.
Hands-on training. A Pre-Apprenticeship prepares you for the next step in your career with a variety of experiences including simulated labs, field trips, and guest speakers.

1) Exceptional Youth Scholarship - $10,000 – 10 Awards (Deadline: May 17, 2024)
To be eligible for the scholarship a student must:
A) Be a high school senior.
