SIMPSON NEWS
Simpson Elementary School: September 2024 Edition
Picture Day is Coming!
Jostens will be at Simpson Elementary on Thursday, September 26. You will receive an email directly from Jostens PIX with order information once photos are available online or by going to JOSTENSPIX.COM using Event Code: FE107824. You can preview your child's picture online before you buy! All students will have their picture taken regardless of purchase. Picture retake day is scheduled for November 20. Class pictures will also be taken on retake day. These will be the only picture days for this school year. There will not be school pictures in the spring.
❎❎Please DO NOT wear green on picture day! ❎❎
The photographer's green screen technology allows you to choose your background after picture day, but it also makes green clothes disappear into the background.
Sporting Event Expectations
Message from MHS Administration:
We hope that everyone will enjoy watching and cheering on the Monte Bulldogs this football season. We have a few reminders we want to reiterate to parents:
- Elementary children should be accompanied by an adult.
- Please do not bring footballs to the game. Students are not allowed to play catch/football during the game. All balls will be confiscated.
- Please stay in appropriate areas. Students are not to play games like hide and seek near the trees. Children will not be allowed to play on the track.
- Please throw garbage away in the receptacles. Let's respect our grounds and keep them looking great!
Thank you for your partnership in reinforcing these expectations for our sporting events.
Attendance Reporting
If your child is absent, please excuse the absence in one of the following ways:
- Report the absence online via Skyward Family Access;
- Email the school office;
- Call the school office at 360-249-4331.
All absences must be excused within 24 hours. Acceptable excuses for student absences include: illness, medical/dental appointments, family emergency, bereavement, and religious occasions. Other reasons may be excused at the discretion of the school principal.
Attending school regularly helps children feel better about school – and themselves. Start building the habit of good attendance now so they learn right away that school is important. Good attendance will help children do well in school, and eventually in college and in the workplace. Visit www.attendanceworks.org for more information.
Student Accident Insurance
The safety of our students is of critical importance to all of us and we want to protect them from injury. Even so, accidents do happen (at school and elsewhere) and required medical care can be expensive. Please know that the school does not assume responsibility for such costs but does offer you access to several student accident insurance plans for voluntary purchase. Details can be found in the attached brochure/enrollment form.

Smartwatches
This is a reminder that smartwatches fall under the category of electronic devices (the same as cell phones) as they have the ability to send and receive messages/calls. If a student brings a smartwatch to school, it needs to be turned off and kept in their backpack during the school day. Should you wish for your child to wear it during the day, please contact Mr. Cady for approval on an individual basis. For it to be approved, it must be for medical necessity such as a physician/family wanting to keep track of activity/steps or if it is purely used for GPS and does not have communication abilities comparable to cell phones.
