Senior Scholarship Update

UPDATE: The application deadline to start the application will still be today, FEB 20th by 11:59pm. However, it will be open for changes until Sunday Feb 25th at 11:59pm, while Mrs. Clairmont goes through the applications to let students know what is missing.

Anyone who starts their application on the 21st or after will not be considered for the scholarships.

I will be verifying that all the essays, letters of recommendation, etc are in the application, so please watch your emails for these messages! And have someone proofread it for you while you still can!

Grand Rapids Area Community Foundation (GRACF.org) Scholarship Application open until March 1

ONE application for over 140 scholarships totaling $170k from local businesses, organizations and individuals.

Essentia Health- Future in Healthcare Scholarship Deadline Mar 1

• $5,000 scholarship for Greater Itasca area students majoring in healthcare. Must have a 3.25 GPA or higher. Apply at GRACF.org. It is not part of the ONE application but once you log in, you will see Eligibility -Essentia Health - Future in Healthcare Scholarship just below the Universal Scholarship Application.

The GRACF Scholarship application requires complete anonymity, so do not put your name in any of the sections of the application. You must also upload your transcript WITHOUT YOUR NAME.

The 2024-2025 FAFSA has been released. FAFSA is the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and is a gateway tool to access financial aid and loans to help pay for college including technical and trade schools. Even if you think you make too much money, the FAFSA is critical in opening the door for many scholarships at colleges and universities. If you would like to work on a FAFSA with a counselor please let us know and we will plan an in person meeting. Now is a great time to complete the FAFSA as technical colleges and other colleges/universities will start sending out financial aid offers to students who have applied, been accepted, and completed the FAFSA in April.

Who should complete the FAFSA?

-2024 High School seniors, even if they're unsure where or if, they'll enroll.

-Students who believe they will not be eligible for financial aid.

-Students who will attend less than full-time.

-Students who know they have enough scholarship money to pay their expenses.

Why complete the FAFSA?

-Students must apply to be considered for federal or state financial aid.

-Many institutional programs also use FAFSA data to determine eligibility.

-Nearly all students are at least eligible for unsubsidized federal loans.

-Some aid is first-come, first served

-Use the FAFSA Estimator to get an estimate of the aid your student may be eligible for https://studentaid.gov/aid-estimator

(The estimator would not include scholarships that schools give out)

Due to delays in processing of FAFSA, the Blandin Foundation Application deadline was extended from March 1st to MAY 1st. Be sure to do your FAFSA as soon as possible in order to have a FAFSA Submission Summary as soon as they are processed.
