Title One Parent Engagement Tips
Counseling Corner:
Parents:
Negative Comments About Appearance Can Harm Children's Confidence
A child’s self-confidence is often tied to how they feel about their bodies. When kids are teased about their body size and they see social media, it can all affect how a child feels. To help your child develop a positive body image:
Accept your child’s body size. Don’t try to change it to meet your expectations of how your child should look.
Accept diversity of all body types. Remind your child that everyone is born a different shape and size.
Talk about unrealistic advertising. Explain how computer imaging is used to make models look perfect in photos.
Make clear rules about body teasing. Don't allow your child to mock others on how they look.
Reading Corner:
Parent Tips:
1/23 is National Handwriting Day!
- Encourage your scholar to put pencil to paper by writing a journal entry, a to-do list, or a handwritten letter. This causes the mind & body to slow down and resynchronize.
