Hello Twin Oaks Elementary Community,
I hope you had a wonderful week! Here are some highlights from our TOES community:
Equity Team Professional Development: Our site equity team engaged in important professional development sessions this week. These sessions are crucial in our mission to create a strong sense of belonging for our entire community, including students, families, and staff.
The Power of Story: On Wednesday evening, some of us had the privilege to attend SMUSD's series, "The Power of Story," featuring Dr. Shree Walker. Dr. Walker shared her personal story, reminding us that there is always a deeper story beyond first impressions. We're excited about attending additional sessions in this series.
Farewell to Mrs. Gayden: Thursday marked the farewell to Mrs. Gayden, our beloved school librarian. We bid her a heartfelt farewell with a traditional clap-out. We wish her all the best and will miss her dearly.
Family Friday: Our second Family Friday took place on Friday. A big thank you to all who attended, and to those who joined us for Coffee with the Principal. It was a wonderful opportunity to discuss both our celebrations and concerns with our fantastic community.
We hope to see you this upcoming Friday at our Spirit Rally, ELAC meeting and Boo Bash!
As we head into the weekend, I hope you all enjoy a well-deserved break. Stay safe and take care!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Barragan-Su
Boo Bash This Friday! We'll See You There!
Sheriff’s Office Tips: Talk to your students about situational awareness
With the new school year under way and many students walking or biking to school, and with Halloween around the corner, we wanted to remind you of the importance of situational awareness with some tips from our partners at the Sheriff's Office:
Always be alert to your surroundings and the people around you.
Do not be distracted by smartphones or electronic devices.
Go with a group; avoid walking or biking alone.
Don’t respond to conversation from strangers on the street; keep walking.
Keep these tips in mind in October, and all year long! Let’s stay safe, San Marcos!
