HIGHLIGHTS OF THE WEEK!
RADCLIFFE DAY
Five students from the WHS Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) and our ELP liaison Ms. Alderson visited the Radcliffe Institute and attended Radcliffe Day 2024, where they met Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor!
SCIENCE TRIP
The Women in Stem club organized an end-of-year celebratory trip to the Museum of Science. Highlights included the human body, arctic exploration, and changing climate exhibits.
MATSOL PRESENTATION
A group of nine students and two teachers (Ms. Andrews and Mr. Espada) presented at the 2024 MATSOL (Massachusetts Teachers of Speakers of Other Languages) conference on Friday, May 31st. Their presentation was titled: “Beyond Bridges for Multilingual Learners: Student-Centered and Student-Driven Practices for Equity.”
SEAL OF BILITERACY
This year, 38 seniors (23% of the Class of 2024) achieved the Seal of Biliteracy! This is the most students and highest percentage of students that we have ever graduated to earn the Seal. Students must show an intermediate-high or advanced levels of language in both English and one other language in speaking, reading, listening, and writing. Congratulations to this group of bilingual students!
ANNOUNCEMENTS
IMPORTANT REMINDERS!
Science MCAS
Students taking the Science MCAS on Tuesday and Wednesday (June 4th and June 5th) are reminded that the test begins at 8:30 AM each day. Please remember to bring your charged Chromebook (and charger, if needed). Room lists are posted throughout the building and in the Morning Announcements. Most 9th-grade students, some 10th-grade students, and some 11th-grade students will be testing - questions about a student's test plan can be directed to their school counselor or Science teacher.
Students who are not taking the MCAS will have a late arrival of 11:30 am. Students are welcome to come earlier and work in the cafe.
Course Requests for Next Year
Students in grades 9 through 11 are reminded to double-check their course requests for next year in PowerSchool (instructions linked here). Students should expect to be enrolled in the classes listed in PowerSchool. School counselors are available to answer any questions or make any final changes.
Summer School
Students eligible for Summer School courses will be notified via email and mailed a letter following the last day of school. Please reach out to your school counselor with questions.
Report Cards
Report cards are mailed home at the end of the year. They are not passed out during school.
SENIORS!
ALL NIGHT PARTY VOLUNTEERS
Please consider signing up to volunteer for our All Night Party next Friday after graduation! The PTSO is looking for a few more gift card donations, volunteers to help set the gym up, and volunteers to help clean the gym on Saturday morning (with breakfast goodies!).

WPS COMMUNITY EDUCATION
Did you know that the Watertown Adult & Community Education catalog contains courses for students of all ages as well as family courses for adults and students to take together?
Included in these offerings are several week-long enrichments the week of June 24th - June 28th, three 2-week music & drama courses, Dungeons & Dragons, music, STEM, and more!

WATERTOWN COMMUNITY NEWS
SUMMER LANGUAGE OFFERINGS
This summer, specifically for our Watertown parents, Project Literacy will be hosting English Language classes at the Lowell Elementary School on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. They have also teamed up with the Watertown Free Public Library Teens Department to create a conversation group for English Language Learners ages 12-17 years old.
ART RELIEF EVENT
Saturday, June 8th, 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, ARTrelief will be hosting a day of family fun to promote handicap accessibility at their center! This will be a fun outdoor event with activities including live music, a free accessible 1k nature stroll complete with a sun print art project, a bake sale, a comic book sale, an art basket raffle, a 50/50 raffle, and an art sale showcasing the work of our talented staff. No purchase is necessary to participate. However, all proceeds from the event will go to improving handicap accessibility at ARTrelief through the installation of a new chair lift.
