From Mr. Clemente
Dear Winter Park Band families,
It was a quick football game at FHS on Friday night with the running clock in the second half, but it was awesome to hang out with our friends in the Pride of the Patriots! The storm threw a wrench in our plans to share the Star-Spangled Banner, but hopefully we will have the chance to try again in the future. We did, however, get to premiere our full BEATLEMANIA show for the first time! The band has been working very hard to get the show on the field, and I'm so excited that we got everything on in September -unheard of with the weather we normally deal with at the beginning of each year. Now we have an awesome opportunity to make the show the best it can be for the entire month of October!
Spirit Night was a success with $995.00 in sales and $275 for the band. Thank you to Frank's Pizza Shop for hosting 3 evenings of Spirit Night and to all our amazing families for supporting the band!
This week, the SOTW will travel to the away football game at Edgewater HS on Tuesday, 10/1, as a full band pep band. We will wear our Summer Uniforms and perform in the stands for the first half of the game, then depart at halftime. As a reminder, the Summer Uniform includes: SOTW water jug, flip-folder, 2024 BEATLEMANIA Show Shirt, tan/khaki color shorts, belt, athletic shoes, socks.
A few important reminders for the week ahead:

BAND SPIRIT WEAR SALE - NEW BAND LOGO
Band Spirit Wear is now for sale! This year we are using a new vendor for our spirit wear, and I'm super excited with how everything turned out. Our vendor calls the sale a preorder for the period that items are on sale. Online sale ends SEPTEMBER 29 and will be available for pickup as early as OCTOBER 14. Shipping is not available, items ordered will be sent together to WPHS and sent home with students. You will receive an email once the order is ready for pickup.
Our new Band logo was inspired by a design by former Band student Miles Griffin and was also worked on by Mr. Clemente and Dana Adkinson. We love it!
A sampling of available items are pictured below, but there are lots of options to choose from including car magnets, parent volunteer polos, t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, and mini pennants. Show your SOTW pride!

Hello, Band Families! 🎶
We’re blown away by everyone who’s helped us hit all the right notes in getting our musicians suited up for marching season—thank you! Now, as we prepare for our first concert, we want to make sure our students are looking as sharp as their music sounds. 🎺✨
Some of our students still need to tune up their concert uniforms, whether it's getting fitted for the first time or finding last year’s uniform (which may be hiding somewhere at home)! If your student already has their uniform, please have them try it on and see if it’s still a snare fit. If not, they can visit the uniform room before or after practices on Tuesday and Thursday for a re-fresher fitting.
For those students who haven’t picked up their uniform yet, please have them swing by the uniform room before or after marching practice. We’ll get them looking concert-ready in no time!
Thank you for being part of this harmonious team and supporting our fantastic musicians! 🎼
Yours in band couture,
Andrea Rediske (andrea.rediske@gmail.com) and Jenniffer Randolph (jenrandolph13@gmail.com)

Thanks to the volunteers who came out on a beautiful night at Freedom HS! I look forward to seeing our volunteers in a few days for a Tuesday game. We can still use some more people to help out with the West Side Showcase 10/26; it is a lot of fun watching all the bands perform and support each other.

Private Lessons
Whether a student is learning a musical instrument to pursue a career in music, or simply for personal musical fulfillment and recreation, private lessons are one of the best investments that a parent can provide for their musical child. When working with a private teacher, students receive one-on-one instruction from a professional musician who specializes on that instrument.
Unlike a full band rehearsal experience, studying with a private teacher focuses in on the student’s individual needs. Students who study privately once a week from a professional musician are usually those who excel and find Band more enjoyable. These students frequently earn positions in honor groups like All-State and All-County, and make entry into our more advanced bands like Wind Symphony and Jazz Ensemble I. Some even go on to earn college scholarships, even if they are not majoring in music!
Below is a link to a list of local private teachers. This list is not exhaustive, and there may be other individuals who are not on the list. If you are a private teacher who would like to be added to our list (or deleted), or know a private teacher who should be added, please contact Mr. Clemente at michael.clemente@ocps.net.
