Panther Update Family Edition #27
March 14, 2025

A Note from the Principal...
Hello Everyone,
A Quick Reminder & A Big Thank You!
Attendance plays a crucial role in student achievement, and being in class on time sets the foundation for success. Please help your student start their day strong by arriving at school on time. We understand the drop-off line can be long, so we ask that students be dropped off by 9:05 a.m. This allows enough time to enter the building, drop off belongings at their locker, and be ready for class at 9:15 a.m.
With the arrival of beautiful spring weather, it’s also a great time to review the dress code with your student. For your convenience, the Student Handbook is linked at the bottom of this newsletter.
We have so much to be grateful for at our school! Today, a heartfelt thank you to our incredible PTO for treating staff to a sweet surprise—A Piece of Pie in honor of Pi Day! As a former math teacher, this truly warms my heart. Thank you, PTO, for all you do to support our school community!
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend!

Chess Club
We will still have ONE more week of Chess Club to make up for the Winter Weather Delay Day we missed. We will meet Wednesday, March 19th. This will decide our tournament winner and I have a small token/prize for each player.
We will finish our Chess Madness Tournament to find our HIJH Grand Master. All members will still play, win or lose and each member will receive a little fun token. We hope all will be able to come for our last Chess Club and join in the fun.
Library Update
March 12 - Author Visit Updates
Thank you to our wonderful PTO for funding the author visit, to our administration for supporting the visit, to our staff for helping set things up, and to our teachers for being flexible with schedules! We had a great visit with author Varian Johnson on Wednesday, March 12! All 5th and 6th graders had the opportunity to hear him speak. 5th-8th grade students who signed up for the opportunity to participate in a writing workshop with the author also had an opportunity to do that. Stay tuned for some highlights and photos of the day next week!
Book Fair – Results Are In
Thank you for our support during our Think Spring Book Fair at the end of February! You make an impact on students’ reading and access to resources! And thank you again to our PTO and parent volunteers for helping our book fairs run smoothly!

Some reasons students experience test anxiety can be high expectations, perfectionism, lack of preparation, fear of failure, poor study habits, or a have predisposition to anxiety. A history of poor test taking can cause a negative attitude towards tests, which can also increase anxiety. Test anxiety is pretty common. Feeling nervous or anxious are normal reactions to stress.
