Superintendent's Monday Magi Message on Service
Monday Magi Messenger: A Note on Service
This week, my message is centered around the theme of “service”—service to our country, our community, and to those we love. First, to all the veterans in our community: on behalf of our leadership team and staff, we extend our deepest gratitude for your service and sacrifice. We honor you not just on Veteran's Day but every day - for the freedoms you've protected and the example you've set for all of us. Thank you for the impact you’ve made, both in serving our country and in enriching our community. We are proud to call you our neighbors and friends.
I also want to highlight some of our Magi students who embody the spirit of service: Jonny Greenwald and Wyatt Downs, both seniors, received thanks from the Historical Society for helping move custom-built shelves into their Research Room; these will support the Colon Historical Society’s mission to preserve local history. Another example of service is Paige Scott, a senior and DECA member, who received recognition from St. Joseph County Animal Control, for helping organize a supply drive to help animals in their care. At the same time, I also want to acknowledge the incredible work of staff at St. Joseph County Animal Control - I recently adopted a dog, Chase, from them - their team goes above and beyond, serving as the voices for animals in need and helping our neighbors care for their pets during times of need.
As we approach the holiday season, I encourage all of us to reflect on how we can serve one another. Whether it’s through volunteering, donating, or simply offering a helping hand. Reach out, share your ideas, and let’s be a part of the many opportunities to give back to our community.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership,
Dr. Rachel Kowalski, Superintendent

REMINDER: Community Survey
As part of our ongoing efforts to expand programs, offerings, and facilities, an Auxiliary Gym Exploratory Committee is looking at options for a new space that meets both athletic and community needs. Initial meetings included a review of community feedback and identified goals for the potential gym addition. The committee, comprised of about 20 individuals representing diverse community areas, met in late August to discuss community input from our summer survey, ideas on gym uses, accessibility, and benefits for students and community members.
Since then, committee members have toured local school district auxiliary gyms to gather insights on facilities in local districts. A follow-up meeting in October focused on narrowing the project’s scope and preparing this survey to gather further input from our broader community. Thank you for your participation!
