St. Lawrence Scoop
Week of September 16th - September 20th
Principal's Message
Hello St. Lawrence Families!
As a reminder, tomorrow, Wednesday, September 18th from 6:30 - 7:30pm we will have our Parent Information Night for K-5th Grade.
We will start the night at 6:30 in the gym.
Families will then have an opportunity to visit their students classrooms to hear from their teachers about classroom expectations, curriculum overview, and key highlights.
Each homeroom teacher will have two sessions, this is to accommodate families with students in multiple grades, each session will deliver the same content/message.
Whole Group in Gym: 6:30 - 6:50pm
First session: 6:50 - 7:05pm
Second session: 7:10 - 7:25pm
The main office and special area teachers will also be at the school to assist with any questions and share about their classroom!
As a friendly reminder, this is for parents only.

Car Line
We need your help!
We dismiss over 80 families by car each afternoon. Due to the large number of students going home by car, we need your help to keep the car line moving as quickly as possible.
We know you are excited to see your child as they come home from school, but we ask that you please get them into the car as quick as possible, and ask them about the day in the car.
This is most true with our youngest kids in car seats. We are noticing a large delay with families getting out of their cars to put kids into the car seat. We ask that you please try to buckle them as quickly as possible to help the car line keep moving.
Thank you for your understanding and help with making the dismissal process as quick and efficient as possible!

School Emergency Drills
St. Lawrence follows all NYS Rules and Regulations regarding emergency protocols.
We hold at least eight evacuation and four lockdown drills each year to practice the emergency protocols.
Prior to St. Lawrence holding a lockdown drill, families will be notified at minimum 48 hours in advance.
In school, we share with students we practice these drills incase there is stormy weather. We do not discuss active shooters, or anything to this nature. This is a parent conversation, not a school conversation.
If you would like to discuss further, or have any questions about these drills, please do not hesitate to reach out to myself (Crystal Criticos).
Circles of Care Program
As part of our commitment to the safety and well-being of all students at the Diocese of Rochester Catholic Schools, we will be implementing the Circles of Care Program this school year. Participation in this program is required for all students unless a parent or guardian chooses to opt out. The lessons and materials for the Circles of Care Program are available for review on our Diocese of Rochester Catholic Schools Website. You can access these resources by visiting the website and clicking on the “Safe Environment” link under the Academics drop-down menu. For your convenience, you can also use the following link to go directly to the Safe Environment page: Circles of Care Program.
We ask that you take the time to familiarize yourself with the program by reviewing the lessons available on our website. Additionally, you will find a Parent Opt-Out Form included with the materials should you decide not to have your child participate in this program.
Please be aware that a letter with more details and the Parent Opt-Out Form will be sent home with your child on September 24, 2024. We encourage you to review this information and reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you for your cooperation and partnership in ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all our students.
CASE Training
Just a reminder all parent volunteers must be CASE trained prior to volunteering within our school. CASE training is good for 3 years. If you are interested in becoming CASE Trained please reach out to Brianna Parker at Brianna.Parker@dor.org
