Message from Mrs. Tremps
Dear Families,
Happy December! As the year winds down, our school is buzzing with holiday excitement and learning. Thank you for your ongoing support in making our school a wonderful place for students to grow, learn, and thrive. Reminder to sign up with your teachers for any holiday parties. This will make your check in more efficient.
We are thrilled to share the results of our Read-A-Thon: We raised over $20,000! Thank you for your incredible support. Our Badgers read for a great cause, and thanks to your generosity, we will be able to add shade to the playground this spring. What an amazing accomplishment!
Here are a few important dates to keep in mind this month:
- Friday, December 6th: There will be no Badger Time after school to allow our staff to attend our holiday party.
- Friday, December 20th: Last day before Winter Break. We will have early release at 11:50 AM, and there will be no Badger Time that afternoon.
- Monday, January 6th: Students return to school to start the new year together!
As you look ahead to the holiday break, I encourage you to enjoy time with your loved ones, reflect on the joys of the season, and create meaningful memories together. A few simple tips to make the most of the break:
- Read together: Cozy up with a favorite book or explore a new story as a family.
- Unplug and connect: Set aside screen-free time to play games, cook, or simply share stories.
- Get outside: Bundle up and enjoy some fresh air with a winter walk or play outside.
We are so grateful for the partnership we share with each of you in helping our students succeed. Wishing you a joyful holiday season filled with peace, happiness, and special moments. We look forward to seeing everyone back in January, ready for a bright start to the new year!
Warm regards,
Daisy Tremps

Upcoming Events in December
From the PTO
Brandywine Elementary is hosting its 4th Annual Heritage Night on January 23 from 6-8pm. Heritage Night will celebrate the diversity of our school including where we are from, where we have lived and places we are interested in.
In order for us to acknowledge the many countries represented at Brandywine, we need your help! If any member of your family was born, has ancestral ties, or is passionate about a country other than the United States, we would love for you to host a table at International Night. We need families with a passion and a vast knowledge of a particular country to share their knowledge with the Brandywine community.
Counselor's Corner
Happy December Badgers! We only have three weeks left of first semester, which means there are three weeks left for everyone to stay focused, engaged, and safe. This time of the year is all things exciting; classroom parties, testing, Gingerbread Day (if you’re lucky enough to be in kindergarten), etc. When things get this jazzy, it’s important for our Badgers to remember to follow the 3 B’s. Our school theme of the month is wellness and safety. In case you didn’t know, being safe is one of our most important 3 B’s. Please help us to remind your student that we can have fun and keep ourselves and others safe (i.e., follow directions, stay with the group, hands to self). We want to ensure that everyone enjoys these last three weeks of school😊
Since it is close to the holidays, practicing gratitude can be a fantastic way to focus on what is important in life. Some of our students have been able to put together crafts that help them think about all the good they have. It can be normal to occasionally fixate on the things that we don’t have. Practicing gratitude, however, reminds us that we have a lot to be thankful for. If you want to encourage gratitude in your household, here are some ideas:
- Practice saying “thank you” frequently
- Ask for one thing everyone’s grateful for every night
- Create a gratitude jar, poster, board together
- Reflect on challenges and what you’ve learned from them
If you want to learn about the benefits of practicing gratitude and see more examples of how to practice gratitude, please read this article: 10 Ways to Practice Gratitude and the Benefits
We hope you have a wonderful holiday season! Let’s finish out the first semester strong.
