Hello families,
With the darkest days of winter behind us, we are moving into the light! February is here.
January was a busy month at the preschool. All classes returned from winter break in early January, and readjusted to classroom routines and expectations. Through our curriculum theme of "snowy science," we explored topics such as the winter season, how animals change and adapt in winter, and healthy habits. We also collected, sorted, and donated toothbrushes, toothpaste, and other dental care items for our "healthy teeth" drive as we celebrated the national day of service at Calvary. This is just one of many ways to show kindness to those around us. Thank you to all families who participated!
We will kick off February with lessons on dental health, including a visit from Miss Gina, our friendly neighborhood dental hygienist, who will teach us about keeping our teeth and mouths healthy. February's curriculum theme is "heart smart," and we will learn about keeping our physical bodies healthy, showing love to our friends and family members, and celebrate Valentine's Day. Our February character value is "honesty" which we will learn about and practice in our daily relationships at school. Also in February, we will celebrate 100 days of school! There is lots of fun and learning ahead.
Valentine's Day at Calvary: All classes will celebrate Valentine's Day at school with a class party and valentine exchange. All students who wish to distribute valentines should send them to school by Monday, February 10th. Please leave the "to" line blank on each card, and sign the child's name to the "from" line, so that your child can pass out their valentines independently! Your child's teachers will communicate with you directly regarding party information.
President's Day School Closure: Calvary Lutheran Preschool will be CLOSED on Monday, February 17th, for President's Day. We will re-open on Tuesday, February 18th.
Pre-Kindergarten only (Davis/Truitt): no classes on Monday, February 24th due to parent/teacher conferences. All other age groups have class as usual.

Save the date: Donuts with Dads
Please save the date for our Donuts with Dads (and other dudes) event in March:
EPS/PS classes: March 24th or 25th
PK classes: March 26th or 27th
All events will be at the start of class (9am or 9:10a). Children will arrive with their special guest (no car line for class on event day). The events will last about 45 minutes. More details to follow in March!
