Congratulations to the five CB West Orchestra members who performed in last week’s Pennsylvania Music Educators Association District 11 Orchestra Festival. They joined other talented musicians from across Bucks & Montgomery counties to perform in the three-day festival.

Congrats to Ivan Urquia, Emma Botes, Maya Byrne, Christoph Zimnitski, and Anton Wingert for their hard work and musicianship. Ivan and Anton have advanced to the PMEA Region 6 Orchestra Festival, which includes top players from across southeastern PA. Thank you for representing West and for your dedication.

A comprehensive directory of local supports for families; a guide for special education services in the district; and information about Title IX are three of several new resources that have been recently added to the district's "Making Practices Public" webpage. From January 1 through March 31, the GIANT Company invites customers to join in supporting its "Feeding School Kids" initiative by rounding up at the register. The GIANT Company will directly support customers’ generosity by matching all donations up to $100,000. The Barclay Elementary School Farmers Market is the beneficiary of the funds, which help to support families across CBSD's 23 schools.

What does it look like to be a "Balanced Individual"? Students are invited to show us in the next round of the district's "Portrait of a Graduate" lockscreen contest. Submissions are due Jan. 20. View more details and a video highlighting the Balanced Individuals attribute.

Welcome to CBSD! Online registration for the 2025-26 school year is now open for families of students who will be eligible for kindergarten in CBSD and students in all grades who will be new to CBSD next school year. Learn more about registration here and start a new registration application here.

Many students across the district currently have negative balances in their lunch accounts. We ask all parents and guardians to please check their MySchoolBucks account to view their balance and, if negative, to please make a payment. Even if you pack a lunch for your child(ren), they still may be purchasing cafeteria items.

To make a payment: Log in to MySchoolBucks and click MAKE A PAYMENT. Click CAFETERIA MEAL PAYMENT. Select or enter a payment amount. Click ADD TO BASKET. Click CHECK OUT NOW to complete the payment process.

For complete instructions on how to use your MySchoolBucks account, go to http://learnmyschoolbucks.com/Parent. You can also use MSB to monitor what your student is purchasing for breakfast and lunch and check your child(ren)'s account balance(s). If you have questions or concerns related to your child(ren)’s account(s), please call the Aramark Food Services office at 267-893-5758.

All CBSD community members are invited to town hall meetings where members of district administration will share information and gather feedback regarding the future of Doyle, Kutz and Linden Elementary schools, with the goal of the School Board deciding on a plan to address the capital needs at these schools in May 2025.

The town hall meetings will be held on the dates below. All meetings will begin at 7:00pm and will be recorded.

• Thursday, Jan. 30 at CB West High School (375 West Court Street, Doylestown)

• Thursday, Feb. 27 at CB East High School (2804 Holicong Road, Doylestown)

• Thursday, March 27 at CB South High School (1100 Folly Road, Warrington)

Community members are invited to attend one or more meetings; each meeting will cover the same information. No pre-registration is required. Comments and questions will be collected in various ways before, during and after the meetings. The district will be as responsive as possible, and frequently asked questions and answers will be added to the "Update the 8" project webpage.

The Class of 2025 Yard Sign Fundraiser ends January 31st. 100% of the profits from this sale will be donated to the Dominic Testani Foundation on behalf of the CB West Class of 2025. The amount will be communicated when the sale closes.

With the official first day of winter on Dec. 21, CBSD families are reminded of district procedures should winter weather impact the school day schedule. You can find all related information on this webpage. If school buildings need to close or operate on a modified schedule due to present or pending weather conditions or any other emergency, the district will endeavor to communicate the schedule change to families as soon as possible. Please note that this year, CBSD will be utilizing Flexible Instructional Days (FIDs) should school need to close after the first use of a traditional snow day. The 2025 CB Save The Music Concerts are coming up on Friday, January 24th (7:30 PM) and Saturday, January 25th (3 PM and 7:30 PM). We are looking forward to another great year of music based around this year’s theme, We Are Family. The CB West Orchestra and Chamber Choir will be performing on the Friday, January 24th show and would love to see you there.

WHAT ARE THE CB SAVE THE MUSIC CONCERTS?

The concerts feature CB music staff, alumni, students, and friends performing an array of popular music styles from through the years all in the spirit of helping others through music education! We are doing something new this year with our donation and will be splitting it 2 ways: 90% will go to the Save The Music Foundation (targeted for The School District of Philadelphia), and 10% will stay here in CB to help provide scholarship instruments for students in need. We are excited to offer career development and healthcare career exploration opportunities for your students at St. Luke’s! As a healthcare organization, we have worked very hard to ensure a safe environment for students to engage in volunteer opportunities. Engaging students in our program is a great way for them to expand their soft skills and learn more about healthcare career options. Our opportunities afford students the ability to learn more about the application process, participate in an online interview and orientation and then have live volunteer experiences within our safe healthcare setting.

The Central Bucks Education Foundation is proud to offer a needs-based "Holicong Road Scholarship" of up to $50,000 annually to a current senior at CB South, CB East, or CB West who is graduating in June 2025 and plans to attend a 4-year college or university in summer or fall 2025. The scholarship will be awarded to a deserving student with demonstrated financial need who has a strong academic history and is actively involved in school activities or within the community. MBIT Applications for the 2025-2026 School Year are OPEN! There are a few things to be aware of:

Application window November 1, 2024- January 31, 2025, to align with your program planning processes more closely.

ALL applications received during this window will receive equal consideration.

We want students to take their time, discuss with their parents, meet with the counselors, and take every opportunity (presentations, tours shadowing) to make an educated and informed decision.

Our goal is the right student in the right program for the right reason.

CBW Antler Yearbooks are selling at a reduced price before January, so be sure to order your yearbook online at www.jostens.com .For the past five years, we have had an increase in the demand for yearbooks! Don't forget to reserve your child an Antler yearbook for this school year - books can be reserved until April 30th. After that, they will only be sold on a first come, first serve basis.

Laptop Breakage

We have seen a rise in the amount of screen breaks for student laptops. Our policy covers for 2 broken screens per device. If your child’s laptop screen breaks 3 times, we will be required to send you an invoice for the repair and labor. The current cost for this is $150. Please remind your child to care for their laptops. Some simple steps to assist are:

• Use two hands when holding or moving the device.
• Use clean hands while using the laptop or iPad.
• Use only the provided digital pen or finger on the screen.
• Use only the power adapter that came with the device.
• Use a microfiber cloth to clean the screen.
• Keep device stored in the provided case. This includes traveling through the hallways, on buses, or anytime the device is not being utilized.
• Make sure nothing is on the keyboard, close the lid, and remove all cables if any are plugged into the laptop. Place laptop in your bag carefully.
• Be careful when placing your case on the floor. Keep the device off the floor so screens do not get stepped on by others.

Our goal each day is make sure that all students, faculty, buses, and drivers exit our school campus safely. To ensure that safety, we are requesting that you please reinforce safe driving habits with your student driver. There have been several vehicle accidents that may have been prevented through safer driving practices.

• Drivers should maintain a speed of 15 MPH or less while driving on MacFarlane and in the school zone area.
• Drivers are to stop for pedestrians entering the crossing areas.
• Drivers are not to change lanes on MacFarlane
• Drivers should not be using electronic devices while driving.
• Drivers/Students should not be yelling from one vehicle to the next or getting out of one vehicle to get in another.
• Please try to limit the number of passengers in the car with your student. This will assist in being more attentive while driving.

• ANYTIME you leave school for early dismissal we MUST hear from a PARENT or GUARDIAN via phone or the portal.
• PARENTS or GUARDIANS can put early dismissals, late arrivals, absences, and vacation time in the portal.
• Absences and tardies can be excused for valid reasons with a note, a phone call, or through the portal by PARENTS or GUARDIANS ONLY.
• PARENTS or GUARDIANS have three days to excuse absences or tardies. (Exceptions may be made)
• Students are NOT PERMITTED to leave for lunch during Lunch & Learn.
