He pānui o te tumuaki - A final note from Whaea Alicia
Our 'Book Fair' being a wonderful hit both with our tamariki and all of you, our whānau. Thank you so much for your support. Along with the book fair we had an amazing array of book characters here last Friday, the photos below speak for themselves.
How amazing were our Toroa and Tītī tamariki in their Performances in 'Countdown to Christmas', we are so incredibly proud of them all- once again rising to the FORCE.
Thanks so much to Miss Macer and Miss Watt for doing such an incredible job of leading the team and co-ordinating this fabulous L4L production. Thank you, also, to their support team as well. Whaea Kataraina was our technical whizz, for sound and lighting. Colleen Taylor, hair, makeup, props and keeping things in check back stage. Whaea Rochelle for her amazing vocal expertise, front stage support and enthusiasm. Madeline Lloyd, Mrs Hills and Molly Rose for back stage performance coordination. Thank you to all of you whānau for your continuous support.
Next week we wrap up the term by going on our traditional hikoi - walk/hike up our incredible maunga/mountain. Our year six's as part of their graduation will walk to the summit of Mount Fyffe. Not only is this significant in and of itself to achieve the summit it is also a symbolic metaphor reflecting their learning journey at Suburban. Kia kaha to our year six's.
This is my last pānui/newsletter as the principal of Suburban school - I thank you all for your support, your kindness and most all for the privilege of being the principal for your tamariki.
I am in this position until the 28th of January 2023.
We all hope to see you all at the leavers assembly next Thursday - this assembly is for our whole school to celebrate the graduation of the unique learning journey that we have at Suburban.
Ka rere te tui tae noa ki te whakatā, ka hoki ano ki te kainga.
A tui will fly so far until it rests and will then return home.

The Great Kaikōura Sheep Hunt - help us find our sheep!
A Kaikōura Shepherd wants to go and see baby Jesus, but he can't find all his Sheep. He knows they have been spotted in the shops at West End, Kaikoura; and he is asking kids and their families to help him. The hunt is on from 2 Dec through to 10 Dec.
To participate, all you need to do is pick up a trail card from Kaikoura Sushi shop at 72 West End, Kaikoura. The trail Card has a list of shops that are participating and a place to record the name of the sheep once you find them at that store. Remember, sheep scare easily so be careful in the stores not to frighten the sheep! We ask that kids are always accompanied by an adult while on the Sheep Trail. Make sure to hold onto your tracking sheet with all the details from your hunt – these will be exchangeable for PRIZES? At our “Special Prizegiving Event” [see below].
Kaikōura Karaoke Party
After all the Sheep have been found, we will be holding a special event on Tuesday, the 20th of Dec 3pm . The event will be held at the Upper Room, above the King Tide restaurant [parking up the hill @ St Paul’s Church]. Here all the sheep will be gathered for an hour of fun centred around the story of Christmas. There will be food, crafts and games. The KidzKlub will celebrate the end of year at this event, by hosting a Karaoke activity to round up the night!
All those that have managed to find the whole flock can enter in to win a prize at this event. For more information email stpaulskaikoura@gmail.com
