ROCK'in Weekly Update
Message from Split Rock Elementary School Principal
What an incredible time we had at our Halloween Parade! Our Wildcats were full of spirit, showcasing some fantastic costumes as they proudly walked through the parade route. It was heartwarming to see so many supporters come out to enjoy the festivities with us—thank you for being there to make the day extra special!
Thank you to the Camillus Middle School Drama Club for bringing the magic of James and the Giant Peach to our Grade 3 and 4 students! It was a joy to see the talented cast, especially some of our former Split Rockers, bring the story to life with such energy and skill. We appreciate the hard work that went into this fantastic performance. Thank you for sharing your talent and love for theater with us!
We’re also immensely grateful to Officer Diane Brand for her recent visits to each grade level as part of the C.O.D.E. Program. Her dedication to keeping our students and staff informed and safe is invaluable. Safety is our top priority, and Officer Brand’s contributions to our school community make a difference every day.
Looking ahead, we're excited to celebrate our October Wildcats of the Month and Pack Award recipients! Stay tuned for next week’s blog, where we’ll reveal the award winners and honor our students' hard work and dedication.
Our annual Veterans Day Assembly is on Friday, November 8. We are thrilled to welcome VIP Guest Speaker Daniel Strumlok, a current WGIS Social Studies teacher and former Marine, who will share his experiences and insights with us as we honor our veterans.
And finally, a quick reminder: Tuesday, November 5, will be a half-day, with dismissal at 11:15 a.m.
Thank you for your ongoing support, and we look forward to celebrating many meaningful moments together in the coming weeks!
BE AWESOME!

Veterans Day Celebration
In preparation for our Veterans Day Celebration on Friday, November 8, we would like to encourage students to wear Red, White, and Blue to honor our current servicemen and women, as well as all our Veterans.
Special Guests:
We would like to offer the students at Split Rock Elementary the opportunity to recognize their Veterans, therefore, we would love to have your child bring a parent/guardian, grandparent, aunt, uncle, sibling, or family member as a special guest if they are a Veteran and have them recognized during the assembly. If your child has a Veteran that would be willing and able to attend the assembly as an honored guest, please email myself and Mrs. Flaherty both directly at mkimpland@westgenesee.org and cflaherty@westgenesee.org so we can add you to our list. | would ask that you include their rank, branch of service and the year in which they served.
Artifact Walk:
For those Veterans, you would like to honor but are unable to attend, we will be creating an
artifact/memorabilia walk to honor those who have served our country. Tables will be set up
along "The Bridge" hallway so the students can showcase pictures of their relatives in uniform,
for all students to view the day of the assembly. We will start collecting photos/memorabilia
from now until Thursday, November 7, the day before the event. **Please be sure to label
ALL photos/ memorabilia with student first and last name, grade and teacher. ** Students
will receive the pictures back no later than Tuesday, November 12.
Only the special guests are allowed to attend the Veterans Day Celebration Assembly. We
thank you in advance for your cooperation and look forward to honoring those who fought for
our freedom!

Nurse's News
It has been wonderful getting to meet a lot of your children over the last few weeks!
Cooler and damper weather is upon us! Please make sure to send your child to school in appropriate attire: jackets, hats, gloves, boots and sneakers to change into.
Accidents and spills happen. I have very limited change of clothing left here at the nurse’s office.
Please send a change of clothing for your child to keep in their locker or class.
There has been an influx of children affected with upper respiratory infections caused by a bacterial infection requiring antibiotics. It is certainly tough to distinguish viral vs. bacterial without testing, so if your child does develop a fever and upper or lower respiratory symptoms (cough, shortness of breath, congestion), consult with your family Doctor if further treatment is needed. Additional info can be found by clicking here.
As a reminder, students should not be in school if they have:
- Fever at or above 100 degrees
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
In general, your child should be without fever, vomiting, or diarrhea for 24 hours with no use of medication, before they return to school.
Attendance/Absence: ParentSquare will send a notification mid morning if your child is absent that you will be able to reply with a reason, you must wait for that notification to come through. If you do wish to let us know prior, feel free to send me a message on ParentSquare, via email at bhind@westgenesee.org, or my office at 315-487-4658. Please click here for additional info regarding reporting attendance.
Please do not hesitate to reach out to me anytime with any concerns.

If the temperature is below 20 degrees Fahrenheit (this includes factoring in the WINDCHILL), recess will be indoors.
