News from Dr. Holcomb
As we get closer to the colder seasons, please let us know if your child needs a winter coat. We have received generous donations of coats that we can provide to students that might need one. You can call the office and let us know or simply have your child stop in the office during the day to tell us.
Thank you to everyone that came for our Halloween parade! Overall the day went very well and students had a great time. I apologize for the technology glitches with our live streaming. There is just never a dull moment when it comes to our technology service! We also appreciate your understanding regarding only parent volunteers being in the classrooms for parties. We are making every effort to ensure that all individuals who are in classrooms are approved and safe. If you would like to become a volunteer please talk to your child's teacher and/or see the highlighted area below for more information.
We are excited to be holding two parent events in the upcoming months. These will be broken up K-2 and 3-5 and will focus on Math. We will provide a quick introduction and background regarding the Building Fact Fluency work the teachers are doing in the classrooms and then teach you two games your child(ren) are learning. Not only will we feed you, but there will be time to play the games as well. You will even have a chance to win a prize! Information and RSVPs for K-2 families has already gone out as their event is coming up on Nov. 10th. 3-5 families stay tuned as more information will be coming. We hope you can join us!
First quarter report cards were sent home yesterday, Thursday Nov. 3rd with your child. Please let the classroom teacher know if you have any questions or if you did not receive the envelope.
If you are needing to pick up your child early for an appointment, please note that we will call them out of class once you arrive at school. This allows your child(ren) to be in classroom instruction as long as possible. Also, just a friendly reminder that when students are picked up early on a regular basis, they are still missing instruction. We have little down time in our day and students are in instruction until 3:30. We do understand that students might need to leave here and there for a variety of reasons and we will work with families. However, please know that those minutes do add up over time.
Calling all volunteers! We would love to have some help throughout the day to support in our lunchroom. Our first lunch starts at 10:55 and our final lunch ends at 1:10. If you are interested, your first step would be to pick up the volunteer form from the office. Once the form is filled out, we send it down to the District office as a background check is required. The District will let us know when you have been approved to volunteer at Bryant. We would provide you a little bit of training and background information before you begin! We would love to have you!

Please take a brief moment to express your gratitude to our amazing staff. You can use the link below. Your words of appreciation make a great impact on our culture and climate. Thank you!

Communication and Preparedness
Student and staff safety is of paramount importance in the Sioux City Community School District. For this reason, the District exercises a host of crisis prevention and planning tactics. Should an emergency occur, the school notifies you through our Blackboard phone system. In an emergency, the system calls every phone number associated with your child in order to reach you. The message will give you details about the emergency and provide directions on when/where to pick up your child if the normal school day is altered. Learn more about school safety.
