From the Principal's Desk
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We have a had a busy fall. Thanks you all for supporting Tigerville through the first quarter. We look forward to busy, but productive second quarter. Teachers and students are working hard on mastering new skills and content.
As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all our students, teachers, staff, and families for their dedication and hard work. We are grateful for the positive energy and commitment to learning that fills our classrooms each day.
Thank you for being part of our school community. Wishing you all a wonderful and peaceful November!

Art Lines
We have been working so hard around the art room during the month of October! The creative sparks continue to fly as we move into the holiday season. One of our national and state Power Standards for Arts Education states. Visual Art Anchor Standard 6: I can identify and examine the role of visual arts through history, world cultures and celebrations. The artistic and creative expressions of our heart-felt celebrations gives us a sense of tradition, family foundation and a centered place of being- HOME. We currently are working to honor our Veterans for our school art show featuring artwork that shares the expressions of gratefulness to our military heroes. We also have school art work displayed to continue a grateful artistic expression of the season of harvest and Thanksgiving. We will soon be creating ornaments for our school Christmas tree which will be displayed in our school atrium and feature a unique ornament with a western flair to match our school theme this year! I invite you to see the various art displays during the next few months.
Important Announcement: I will be sending home the Original Works brochures home early in November and parents are invited to view their student’s work and consider placing an on-line order with many products available using the student art they created. Products ordered are scheduled for early December delivery and make excellent gift choices for family, friends, and students to help complete your Christmas shopping lists! More information will be made available as important order dates approach.

Library Loop
November is here and it's a cozy time to find a good book to read with your family. Thank your for your support during the read-a-thon. We were able to raise funds for the library to purchase more books. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. Also, thank your for your support of the Storybook Character Parade. We saw over 100 families come through the line.
Our next big library event is GRINCH week, Dec. 16-20. Students are invited to stand up to the GRINCH in support of reading. Each day a different book is highlighted.

Music Notes
I can’t believe it is already November! The time is going by way too fast. There is a good bit of stuff going on this month so go ahead and mark dates on your calendars.
Chorus will have their first performance on Monday, Nov. 11th for our Veterans program. The kids are doing a great job learning their songs and can’t wait to show their appreciation to all the Veterans.
Recorder Karate for 3rd, 4th, and 5th begins in January. All 3rd grade and any 4th or 5th graders that were not at Tigerville last year will need to purchase a Recorder. Be on the lookout for cost, I would think no more than $5.00, and when they will be available to purchase in the music room. I usually have 8 different colors so they will want to purchase quickly if they have a favorite. Send cash or Check, made out to TES, to the music room to pick their color. Recorders will stay in the music room so if they want one to practice at home you may want to purchase 2.
2nd-5th have started Ukulele lessons several weeks ago. I’m going to ask that students not bring their own Ukuleles this year because I simply do not have time in my schedule to tune more during the day. The kids absolutely love playing the Ukulele. It might just be a great present from Santa, or anyone else in the family. 2nd grade will play a good bit after the holiday break while 3rd-5th will focus more on the Recorder and Ukulele.
K4, K5, and 1st will continue their lessons on Quaver and start adding more complex instruments during their lessons. 1st grade will start in the Keyboard Lab in January and 2nd will continue in the Lab from last year.
If you ever have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to call or email. Have a wonderful November!

STEM Lab Notes
In November, students in 2nd through 5th grades will be focusing on the 'T' in STEM while we learn how to use technology to help us in the classroom. Students will learn how to use safe electronic resources to research various science related topics. They will also learn how to use different formatting options in Google Slides such as hyperlinking, adding speaker notes, changing the font and background, and inserting photos, textboxes and shapes.
We had lots of fall fun in K5 and first grade last month using pumpkins to help us sharpen our science skills. First graders used the engineering design process to plan and build a gate that could hold five pumpkins after learning the song '5 Little Pumpkins Sitting on a Gate'. In K5, students used their five senses to investigate real pumpkins and recorded their data. In November, we will have a theme of 'trees'. First graders will investigate how the number and placement of leaves changes a tree's shadow, and will work in a group to create a tree with a dowel and post-it notes. K5 students will learn about bird nests and why they are important, then work on creating their own nest that will hold two plastic eggs.

Join us as we gear up for the holiday season!
To start things off, we had PTA Day on the first Friday of the month—November 1st. It included the ROAR store and our monthly PTA Board Meeting at 1 PM.. Remember, the ROAR Store is now on the 1st and the 3rd Friday of every month!
We had a great turnout for our annual Movie Night on November 8th
We’re also excited about our Pies for Teachers drop! The PTA wants to send every teacher and staff member home with a fresh pie on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. We need donations of fresh, store-bought pies in any flavor on the 25th and 26th.
