We are so excited to welcome our new 6th graders! July 25th, from 12-3pm, is our Camp Parkview experience that allows our 6th graders to explore Parkview, meet new teachers and classmates, and go through their schedule. Students will learn their locker information, practice opening and decorate their lockers, and enjoy lunch and snacks while learning about Parkview. There is a Parent Meeting in the auditorium from 2:30-3:00pm.

To drop off students, please go through the Parkview car rider line (enter on Brigman, and circle around to the back of the building). There will be adults outside at 11:45am to help direct traffic.

Secondary Open House is Tuesday July 30th, 5-7pm. Students and parents may come into the building, pick up schedules, meet the teachers, and put school supplies in lockers/classrooms. This is an open house, so students and parents may arrive anytime between 5:00-6:45pm for this event. Please enter through the gym doors; students will be able to pick up their schedules in the gym.

• Doors open at 7:45am
• Tardy bell rings at 8:00am (students must be in class to be marked present)
• Breakfast served from 7:45-8:00am
• Dismissal begins at 2:45pm

Anyone arriving after 8:00am or leaving prior to 2:30pm will be counted as tardy.

• Daily attendance of all students who are enrolled in the Greater Clark County Schools is required in accordance with state law and corporation policy. Students are expected to attend school regularly in order to derive maximum benefits from the instructional program. The responsibility for regular school attendance by a student rests with the student and his/her parent or legal guardian. If a student will be absent, please call 812-288-4844 and ask for the attendance secretary.

• If your student will be taking medication during the school day, the medication form must be completed with school nurse. All medication must be brought to the (front/health) office and taken there. All medication, which includes over-the-counter, cough drops, and prescription medications, must have a written physician’s order.

• Students are allowed to bring cell phones to school, but must keep them turned off and put away. Parkview Middle is an “Away for the Day” school. You can find more information on this at https://www.awayfortheday.org/. Students needing to call home during the school day must do so in the main office during lunch or in the classroom with his/her teacher’s permission. Cell phones are never to be used to take photos or videos at school. Students failing to abide by this policy will result in school consequences.

The 21st Century Scholars program is a wonderful opportunity for eligible students to get four years of free college tuition. All 8th grade students that are enrolled in the free and reduced lunch program are automatically enrolled in the 21st Century program as well. However, I know we have students that are eligible for free/reduced lunch that don’t complete the application process, so I want to make sure everyone is aware of this opportunity. Please go to the link below to see the income eligibility guidelines and the enrollment process. If you feel your student may be eligible, click on ‘Create an Account’ in the green box. If your student is considering trying out for a sport this year, please be sure to have a physical form completed (https://www.ihsaa.org/sites/default/files/documents/PRE-PARTICIPATION%20PHYSICAL%20EVALUATION%20and%20FORM_2023-2024.pdf) and complete Final Forms (https://greaterclark-in.finalforms.com/).

Final Forms and the physical form MUST be completed before a student is allowed to tryout/participate in a sport.

We encourage all parents to fill out a free/reduced meal application to see if their child is eligible to participate in this program.
