5th Grade Leadership Team
This year, OES has created a 5th grade leadership team that consists of 5th graders, who applied and interviewed for the team, and three staff members: Ms. Jenson, Ms. Kim, and Ms. Love. Our 5th grade leadership team meets weekly to work on school wide efforts.
5th graders had their last leadership meeting last week. We reflected on the learning and activities we have done and spoke to 4th graders about joining leadership next year. As a final activity, the 5th grade leaders presented awards at our last school assembly on Friday.

Attendance Matters
May Attendance Contest
For the month of May, classrooms are competing for the best attendance! The class with the best attendance over the three weeks wins and gets to pie an OES staff member in the face at the OES Celebration on June 5th (we will cast it live to the students who do the online celebration option).
This week, Ms. Moua’s 3rd grade class had the best attendance with an average of 93%.
Runner ups:
Ms. E’s 5th grade class at 88%
Dr. Cotton’s 4th/5th grade class at 87%
Next week, we will find out the winner of the contest and which class will pie a staff member in the face!
Please remind your student to log in on time and stay logged in for duration of class. The end of the school year is right around the corner and we want all of our students to be prepared for next year!

Budget Update Meeting for Parents and Family Engagement Plan and Home-School Compact for Achievement
We held an OSL- Budget update meeting for parents on 05-16/24. We also covered the Family Engagement Plan and the Home-School Compact for Student Achievement. Our primary goal was to share these important documents and solicit some feedback from parents.
All OLS parents already received this presentation and a link to a Google form on Thursday May 23, 2024 via Blackboard Connect Messages.
This newsletter includes a PowerPoint presentation detailing all topics we covered that night and a link to a Google Form where parents can offer their feedback on the topics we addressed.
