Colin Chobert Art

For the first quarter our project was a color wheel where we learned about all the different styles the colors would be in and how to use them. I made the project by starting out with the primary colors, then secondary and just went smaller and smaller until I had all the needed colors. This project helped so much with the upcoming ones so that I would know how to use colors well.

I picked mixed medium art because I figured It would fit my personal style of making art the best, and I thought it would be a great way to try out more than one new style of art. I made this particular piece by taking a blank board of wood and going over it with white and then began to paint over that. After painting the landscape I started to carve out a canoe using a block of wood and screwed it on to the painting.

I picked a 3-D sculpture project for the third quarter. I picked this project because I knew that I had stayed inside my realm of familiar types of art so far this year so I decided I wanted to branch out a bit to close out the year. I made this sculpture by taking some aluminum cans and cutting them into the shapes that I knew I would need and connected them together using hot glue and bending the aluminum into certain shapes.

“What have you learned about making Art?”

I have learned that it's important to express yourself the way you choose otherwise you will be upset with the outcome of your work and that if you feel forced into it it won't be enjoyable.

“What have you learned about yourself through the projects you have created?”

I learned what I personally like creating and that I can't push myself into anything I don't want to do.

Above is the piece I am most proud of and that's because it looks the best done and most detailed.

My biggest weakness from this year is the laziness towards the end of the year.

The art I like and want to start making is a kind of illustration where you don't try to make the art super pretty but you leave it looking raw and messy like the one below.
