SUMMER READING!
Your students will be receiving Summer Reading materials to help them stay sharp and prepare for their next grade level. All classrooms will be receiving summer reading materials for their students. Each student will receive a shrink-wrapped packet with five books and a Summer Reading Journal from Scholastic. Information from the Port Chester-Rye Brook Public Library is also included.
Summer reading is vital in preventing the summer slide and ensuring that students retain what they have learned throughout the school year. We believe these materials will support their growth and enthusiasm for learning.
Students will also be receiving grade-level Math Packets.

First Grade Pen Pals at Park
This year, students in our first grade have been writing paper letters to pen pals at Ridge Street School in Rye Brook. The goal of this program is to create bonds between the two communities and to teach our students the proper way to write an old fashioned pen and paper letter. On June 16, first graders at Park , King Street and Ridge Street will all gather together at Ridge Street School to meet their pen pals and to make new friends! The program has been a great success and our students have loved it!
Summer Mailing
This summer in late July/early August, we plan to send a physical mailing to all households with important information about next year. In this mailing, we'll include the principal's welcome, your child's teacher for next year, a copy of the yellow emergency pickup cards, a map of pickups and traffic plans, the school calendar, supply lists and other things.
This will be the ONLY PHYSICAL MAILING that we will do this year. Please ensure that your mailing address is up to date in our data system and that your email is correct so that you receive our electronic communications also.
Juneteenth - June 19 - NO SCHOOL
We will have no school on Thursday, June 19 in honor of Juneteenth. For those who are not aware of the significance of this NYS holiday, here is a short summary:
Juneteenth is a holiday that commemorates the day—June 19, 1865—when the last enslaved people in the United States were informed of their freedom, over two years after slavery was officially ended by the Emancipation Proclamation. It is a time to recognize an important moment in American history and to celebrate freedom, family, and community.
